Actually not so cheap, especially if you install the charging equipment in your home. Also, you need to stop for about 45 minutes every 300 or miles to charge the battery up to 80%.

Plan different how? Plan to double what they pay for electricity every month? Plan not to use AC if they are stuck in traffic in August? Plan to be sure they don't go where there aren't any charging stations? Maybe bring a portable genertor with them?

I live in TX, and there are 0 charging stations in my city. pretty close to 200k people.
One of the docs i work with had a charger installed in her house for her Tesla S.

Someone I know has a neighbor who did that. Bought a new Tesla and decided to put in a home charging station. He was all thrilled... until he got his first electric bill. He had the car for three months and traded it in for a ICE car.

The only charging stations I recall seeing in TX were in Austin. Of course. I don't think that Buccees has them, but they should. People can eat a lot of food in 45 minutes waiting for the batter to charge. ;)

Finally, if an EV catches fire there is no practical way to put the fire out. Same if you have one of those solar panel charged batteries in your house. Fire departments are being told to protect surrounding exposures and let the fire burn out. So, if you EV is parked in your garage and the battery ignites you lose your car(s) and your house.

I spent less in electric a month than gas for a car. If he's from Texas that would explain the high bill. Doesn't mean everyone will have the same high bill.

Ohhh like special Ed math ? Or ?
first of all you don’t need to have anything “installed” I don’t know who needs to charge up in less than two hours for daily 200mile road trips. I just use my 220v welder outlet (using the free mobile charger cable adapter) and I even dial the amps down to 9 A so I don’t overheat anything. Someone can legitimately use the regular old 110 V outlet easy for their daily drive (50miles) and still be charged up by morning. The hell. Y’all need to rent a Tesla and prepare to have ur minds blown . You will be like : “What !? That’s easy !!!! And so fast ! Hey I can play ice cream truck sound outside when I drive ? Nice. all the fat kids will come running when I’m on the block”.

    Pulling up by yourself isn't everyone's cup-'o-tea.

EV currently blows outside of city commuting grocery getting. Hybrid (non plug in) is a reliable option.

Self driving? Lonnnnng way to go in application for the masses.
