What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

How easy was the viper cut? It seems straight forward.

 

Custom installed some scratches on my bumper when my foaming gun fell apart on me.

I’m going to be in the corner sobbing. I’m starting the process to get it fixed but it feels bad.

 

Cut is stupid easy, just use tape to make a line where you want to cut. I taped and re-taped 3-4 times before I got what I wanted. Measure twice-cut once!
Edge trim covers up the edge. Big thing for me was folding/fastening the remainder of the inner fender liner to protect fog lights.
I used a heat gun, big help!

 

I put that light strip in down there because I blocked my 3rd brake light with the Softopper. I think that is a ticketable offense. But definitely could come into play if ever I was rear-ended.

I was able to divert my light strip around the spare tire jack hole. No restrictions to access it.

 

Thanks that helped a lot. I was wondering about the inner fenders but figured you could use a heat gun. With the 33s and off roading I need to do the viper cut for no more rubbing.

Mine never rubbed with 33's, but it looks real nice. If you look at my pic and then trim the inner a little once you make the cut, you'll see how to fold/heat and bolt the two pieces together using the OEM fastener that you just cut out!

NO - NOT the light strip!

I was talking about blocking the 3rd brake light. That is an offense. Poor sentence structure on my part.

I've heard that one could even get a ticket for blocking it with a high cargo load, but I think you'd really have to piss-off the traffic cop for him to go that far!

I was really pleased to see that a Hilux in Japan had the 3rd BL mounted in the top outside (duh!) of the tailgate. That would work perfectly for Softoppers and/or hard shells missing it.

Season is changing, time to put the Leitner back on. This time I decided that I wanted to keep access to my accessory track, so today I milled away the material that blocks it, and I can keep using all the other stuff I've made for the rails. Much better in my opinion.

 

I think the 3rd light is supposed to be up high. They term it as cmhsl? Center mount high stop light

 

i had a set of sliders that were line x coated. It chipped here and there. Not a big deal in Cali But it the salty stuff, I’m sure it would’ve rusted and peeled off more. Now I’ve got some powder coated sliders, so far no chips.

 

Nice to have a mill. Wish I had an old Bridgeport.

 

If your powder coater has the option, most do, ask for zinc-rich primer coat ahead of color coat. Makes a world of difference for durability in outdoors.
