Ok, so the services went from 6-6:40pm. And I really don't know how to put this into words, but I am going to try. The pastor started started talking about Rick's life and family. He discussed his children, his grandchildren, and extended family. He did this for about 15 minutes..........and then this happened. He said....
So now that we talked about his family, we have to talk about his other family. A Brethren known as Tacomaworld. It was amazing to see the people from all around the world, from Washington to Boston, from Texas to Florida and even Great Britain. He was positively known as Unchained 5150. And the love that he had for his truck and other "tacos" spawned into something beautiful. I wish that I could read you almost all of more than 300 things that people wrote about him, but I will read you at least 50.

The pastor then proceeded to start reading all of the comments that people left him in this thread. These compliments literally went on for 20minutes. There was not a dry eye in the funeral home. The Swank family wishes their deepest thanks for the family of people on here that brought him so much pressure and always put a smile on his face.

Thanks for relaying the info Jared. A lot of us that knew Rick personally also knew how important this site was to him. I must say that it never occurred to me that his family also knew of us.

That's awesome to hear, me and my wife hung around for a little and watched some of the pictures cycle through and said my piece to his wife. She seems absolutely lovely even in such a trying time and I heard her talking about him being on TW all the time while laughing, he'll definitely be missed

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I just got home from the wake and I just wanted to say a few things.

First off, I wanted to say to Rick. RIP man. I hope and pray that you are in a better place and that all your pain has been lifted away from you!

I also wanted to say a huge Thank You to his wife and family @Unchained 5150 ! Thank You for letting us attend this and Thank You for letting us set up our trucks in line to show our respect to such a great guy.
I know that in the last few days a lot of people have reached out to say their condolences but I also know that the responses that were received were only a faction of the people that Rick had talked to here on the forum. Rick was a fantastic guy and he will be sorely missed by not only the ones that were privileged to meet him but by the countless others that he touched online!

    RIP my brother!

I for one never imagined what being on this forum would morph into. I remember when I first joined - begrudgingly - because i did legitimately have a question about my truck. Never planned on sticking around beyond that but so glad I did. I've met so many awesome people, made a lot of friends (some actual, real life friends), and had lots of adventures that I never would have embarked on otherwise. Yeah, I still have my truck but I stick around because the folks here are amazing. Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Jared, thank you for the all the updates.
Thank you to everyone local that was able to support Rick for all of us that were unable to attend. That's amazing to hear that they not only mentioned us but spent a good 20 minutes talking about Rick's impact on all of us and our "family".

    God Bless you all.
    RIP Rick.

I'm with you on this @MTgirl I found this in October 2012 as I learned my just acquired 2010 Tacoma didn't have intermittent wipers. My 1979 Mustang I had in high school didn't and I recall a universal kit to splice in etc so I Googled the subject and TW was at the top, so I found out about the mod. Still here almost 10 years later and nobody has been able to get rid of me yet. A vast difference from the Chevy Colorado forums I was on before, nowhere near the activity in general or locally. Also met some great people both locally and elsewhere..I'd list them but I am sure I would leave out so many unintentionally.

As an aside, maybe this summer we get a TW meetup going and do something for Rick?

Wow. I'm just a dude from Oregon who had only a few interactions with Rick on the board. But his threads had a lot of valuable info on both a technical, Tacoma related level and a human level as well. I will be perfectly honest, I did not think the passing of a guy I never met would have such a profound affect on me. This has been, I don't know what phrase or figure of speech to use, bothering me since I learned of his passing. It has honestly disturbed me more than deaths that have hit me closer to home. Maybe that says something about forums, social media, blah blah blah but I dont know. Is that weird on my part? In any case I would like to give my most sincere prayers and good wishes to Rick's family. He will be missed.
