Just curious - any downside to going Bilstein 5100's and NO other suspension mods?

    Let me 'splain....

My wife and her brother are going to go in halfsies and buy a set of brand new Bilstein 5100 shocks for my 2017 Off Road for birthday next month. Truck is bone stock, and at this time, I am not planning to do any other suspension mod$ - it will be just the new shocks.

I was just curious if anyone may have had a negative experience in doing this upgrade - just new shocks and nothing else. I doubt it, as I hadn't found anything on this forum when I searched, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, so I can tell them to hold off if there may be any concerns with doing this.

Oh... and is there anything I should know about how to adjust or set up the shocks when they get installed? "Do it this way..." or " Do NOT do....".

    Much appreciated

This. Honestly decent, inexpensive entry level lift.
But beware, that’s where it always starts… Mwhahahah!

I am all too familiar with the after market enhancement of trucks. I was very big into the after market diesel performance world for many years when I had my Dodge Cummins. Spent probably as much on all the mods as I did on buying the truck, and already have a long list of what I would love to do on my Tacoma, if I had the money. I was single when I modded my Dodge 20 years ago....

I’m at stock height with 5100s front and back. No problem with the setup. Only possible negative is that it rides a little stiffer than the stock shocks.
