Rear lift dilemma

    Alright guys I've been saving up for some all-pro leaves to replace my current aal but I'm having second thoughts.

    I don't tow alot or even that often but every summer I haul maybe 10 loads or so of mulch or rock around town. I would like to achieve 3"-3.5" of lift in the rear to get me back to factory rake as well. I don't want to go with blocks or shackles but they look like my last option.

    I would go with the all-pro expo pack but it states that it will actually give you 4"-5" of lift unloaded and other than the occasional summer towing job I don't think those will be necessary.

    So this got my creative juices flowing. I recall a while ago that someone had put some junkyard coils in-between the bump stops in the rear on top of the leaves. Now I have a bit of an issue with half assing things but this idea makes the most sense to me. If I recall correctly the poster in that thread had no issues with the coils being compressable to the point of coming off of the bump stops and load carrying capacity and ride quality improved.

    Is this my only alternative? If so has anyone else done this? Also if anyone knows what thread I'm talking about post up a link! I've been searching all night and I want to make this work if it is deemed "safe" by you guys.

    You could do air bags in the rear instead of the coil springs.

    I had thought about that but i don't know how well those will cater to my needs. I forgot to add that I would like something that will still flex decently and I don't know much about bags by I will do some research, thanks for the suggestion

    I would I just don want to get them and wear them down in 2 years because when I do tow its usually around 2000 but at times I've done loads up to around 4500. I'm really starting to like this coil idea... Someone get me to believe the expos will work without turning my truck into a stink bug haha. To anyone with the standard ap leaves: how often and how much so you tow and what are the affects on your springs?

    I had thought about one but after seeing that box rocket didn't seem to have the load carrying capacity he wanted I'm shying away from that option. I don't want to get a leaf pack AND a block or extended shackle

    Anyone ever use these springs? They state 2" of lift which is a bit shy of my goal but with 750 lbs more carrying capacity over stock an a supposedly good ride on and offroad Im starting to like this idea. I can always throw in a 1" shackle later

    I have a set of those that I used for about 5K miles and took off. They gave me more lift that I wanted, about 3.5" over stock. Even though they are designed for load carrying, they still flexed pretty good.

    Oh man. I have been there and done this. I would give you my opinion, but can't since I am a vendor. I would definitely go with the OME Dakars as CRF mentioned above.

    If you end up adding more weight down the road, you can add an AAL.
    You would need CS046RA and CS046RB for the first gen Taco. If you end up needing the AAL down the road, D6XL would be the AAL's for the spring pack above.

    Alright so I called up nwor and this is how the conversation went....
    Me:Hey I was just wondering how much the stage 2 lift springs are and if they were in stock
    Anonymous guy: Oh yeah we just got them in after being 18 months out of stock
    Me: Awesome
    Anonymous guy: yeah they come in at about 275 a p...
    Me: AWESOME
    Anonymous guy:...iece
    Me:F*wwwwkkk alright well how much will shipping be to Missouri? I can't imagine it's cheap.
    Anonymous guy: It looks like that will be around 100-110
    Me: DOUBLE F*wwwwkkk

    so when i add it all up it looks like this

    a set of stage 2 leaves $550+tax
    shipping $110
    extended brake lines $40+tax+shipping
    new u-bolts $40+tax+shipping
    install ? I'll estimate $150

    so total is 890+ shipping and tax.
    no way in hell im spending that much money.

    Hopefully I will be able to work out a deal with Digiratus and if that doesn't work out I will probably end up going with the dakars
