If one is suggesting that the 'ole supply / demand equation will be lilted some more, it's either a great time to sell what you have (if you don't need a replacement) or keep driving what you have.

I do know from a family members experience it's not a good time to shop for used popular vehicles. Theirs was totaled by a nimcompoop, and a reasonable replacement is tough to find.

I'm still having a hard time digesting what I paid for my used 3rd gen last month. But I wanted it and my 4Runner just wasn't cooperating with the multiple car and house projects I am dealing with. Thankfully it gets way better gas mileage than the lifted 4Runner did. Until I lift it of course.

actually it does! Doesn’t supply shortages help resale? I mean, we’ve seen record prices on the auto market in the last few years. Ymmv

It will affect the cost/availability of any parts that use Toyota Proprietary electronics. Keys, sensors, ECUs and tons of things that occasionally break, not just new car production. It wasn’t a doom and gloom, but perhaps a notice that certain projects may want to hold off until supply/price stabilizes. Or perhaps buy before product availability disappears.

I don't know why Toyota can't make vehicles that use less chips. The Tacoma won't be anh less of a vehicle, with out push to start, proximity keys, key fobs. The phone charging pad that don't work could be eliminated.

Toyota could still charge the same, price it's not like they pass the savings they recoup by moving production oustside of the US on to the customer. This goes for any manufacturer.

Good I hope that will open people's eyes up to our dependency to alot of issues we are facing. Time to stop depending and start doing.

The problem isn’t the chips, it’s the materials used to make the chips. Congress just dumped billions into a new mega factory for Intel here in America, because we’re getting killed by Taiwan in manufacturing.

I agree. They should start up production of the last truck that did not use a chip. They could sell them as fast as they could make them. Drop the stupid safety stuff, lower the price, and get better gas mileage
