Mornin folks. Just took the tundra in for the 10k service. They've got some eye candy for me while I wait... it's the twin turbo v6, puts out nearly identical power numbers apparently. I haven't looked at the towing capacity yet. image.jpg75F91EE1-2A0B-4DA8-872D-EB851E771AB0.jpg

It basically has a tweaked version of the Lexus LS 500 engine. There are 3 versions.

Base: 348 hp, 405 lbs of torque
Standard: 389 hp, 479 lbs of torque
With hybrid booster: 437 hp, 583 lbs of torque.

All that torque comes in at around 2k rpm. So all 3 versions donkey stomp the V8 in low end grunt.

12k pounds for towing on some models. About 2k pounds for bed capacity

Yeah, sales guy and I were just talking about that. This one has the twin turbo standard model. Somewhat funnily, they have a composite bed like the Tacomas now. I don't really see where the extra 2k tow capacity comes from on these, having crawled under mine and this one. I'll take their word for it though! At over 10k more than mine, for a similar 2wd, I'm sure it must be worth it. The textured side bolsters made me laugh, extra traction for your butt in the high G turns.

Now for a post more befitting TW. They got a 2014 in on trade with 60k on it. It's the clone of my taco, just unmolested. It's 2wd, 5spd, and basic bench seat regular cab. 1543BA83-4013-4756-AF67-BC80A0979C2B.jpgC3741B2D-FFEF-4928-BAB7-03BAC2A3B707.jpg

Damn, was not aware 2wds were a little more common there than they are around here. The only Tacoma's and Tundra's I see on the lots here (new or used) are 4wd...

I think I just manage to find the only ones they get. Right now I think they're taking every truck they can, regardless of its drive.

I ran into my salesman while I was there, and he basically shoved the keys to the Tacoma in my hand, telling me I had to test drive it. That's the first time I've driven a stock 5 spd Tacoma, and boy is it different. I'm so thankful mine has the clutch accumulator delete and pedal commander. It was a very clean truck though, and it was smooth and quiet as could be. Also got a new hat as a wedding gift from the sales guy. 2B74D537-7E4D-44E3-9E23-84217AAEB591.jpg

Busy with life, switching employers while keeping the same job but changing locations.. if that makes sense lol. One more out of town stint then I'll be working locally most of the time. Have a lot of little projects going around the house I need to wrap up as well before spring cleanup time is here.

Thank you for the reminder of my first new vehicle, the 1984 Toyota Longbed Deluxe 2wd 5 spd manual, 22RE carbureted (because I could work on it with friends in Sitka, Alaska when I wasn't working in the boondocks). Plenty of oomph for running between the ferry terminal at Prince Rupert, BC and Missoula, MT for the winter vacation from seasonal fieldwork.
Congratulations on having a good salesman, and on your marriage! "Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the birdies is." (Old poem that my folks would recite.) 10 more days to Glacier Undercoating!

Love it. A bit pricey, like all vehicles these days. But cool nonetheless
