Recently noticed my 2018 mpg has dropped to around 18.

    Usually was around low 20s

    is that normal?

everything has been kept up to date

I’ve seen various answers for this

Same here. Usually 24 MPG, after last fill up, 18. Could additional ethanol have been added over the past few weeks to stretch the supply here in NC?

    Did you....
    Lift it?
    Change tires?
    Add a bumper?
    Mount a shell?
    Add a peddle commander?
    Start driving over 60mph regularly?
Put lead in your right foot?

    Etc, etc.

Just can’t understand how people here claim to get 24 mpg in these trucks. Assuming 6 cyl auto trans...unless all your roads are downhill with the wind.

My 21 OR averages 18 with about 70% expressway driving. Have only touched 20 or 21 on slower, flat 50 mph country roads. What gives? Are some trucks just magic?

I average 16-18 @ 70-80 mph, 22-24 @ 50-55 mph. A couple of weeks ago on a +- 40 mile trip , (70-75 mph), I take regularly there was a 20-25 mph head wind on the way, same tail wind on return. I averaged 14.6 there, 23.3 back. Pulled 6th gear up most hills coming back.

2020 TRD Off Road DCLB w/Leer cap and full cap Sherpa rack, switched to 265/75-16 tires from the stock tires (265/70-16), and mileage dropped to 18 - 18.5 from 21 City/Highway combined due to the speedometer reading differences between the two tire size swap. Actual MPH on the speedometer has changed, and I have to be mindful of that, too.

No big deal, and I always remember, it's a truck, and expected such changes. I am happy it runs great, and that I have fun with it with "smiles per mile"!

I do about 23- but I drive like a grandpa. Like, a complete grandpa. If I drive 75-85 I’m right down to 16.

On a 2022 I'm 14-15 with a MT lift and AT tires. I must drive like an asshole. Once sliders and skids go on I'll be lucky to get 12.5. Even stock I was lucky to get 18.

It’s because they don’t. It’s either an exaggeration or a single instance such as a drive or a single tank.

Notice how everyone is like ya I get 24 but in XYZ situation I get 14 or whatever..which means they are full of shit.

What you experience is what pretty much everyone else is seeing. I posted real world numbers in my 5.29 thread and I averaged 19.74 mpgs. Occasionally I hit 21 and other times 18 but even in the most ideal situations would never see 24.

What we do know for certain is the onboard calculator is generally wrong

On the way back from the high desert, i fueled up on the way down a mountain and got 45 mpg. Once I got on the highway it dropped to 21 mpg.

A few cluster MPG guesstimates are worthless. If you want any real data you have to collect and track it. That means a note pad, spreadsheet, or use something like Fuelly. Track it over time and watch a real average develop then you can track departures from the average.

My stock (well, except for tonneau cover, bedmat and vent visors, which I doubt affect much of anything) manual 18 Sport indicates 15-16 mpg for daily mixed highway and local driving. It will indicate 22 on long highway drives cruising about 65-70 mph. I don't beat on it much, but I don't drive for mileage either. If I could get 18 for my daily driving I'd be thrilled.

Something to note, cold start and warmup definitely affects that cluster readout, on a cold day, if I warm it up and drive straight to work it can read more like 12-13 mpg for the trip. If I reset the trip by stopping at the bagel shop or something, it reads the normal 15-16 mpg.
