Thanks for the heads up,checking my version now and updating as needed. Not sure when the latest update was but I did an update back in January IIRC. Going to see if I can get my phone set up for as a mobile hotspot so I can do this anywhere I have cell service.

Did you get it updated and flash your truck? Let us know how you like it. Manual tune is strong!

Got re-tuned. Had some issues with the first pro tune on my truck. Tuner updated to the Pro Plus. Definitely different. I thought I read somewhere that the plus was for heavy tacos? Not sure if it's ok that I'm running it, any thoughts? Tuner said it's the latest Tune so that it should be good.

The Pro+ just has the shift points increased about 3-4 mph. Keeps the truck in each gear a little longer. Nothing else is changed. But like I always say, one little change affects EVERYTHING.
It is what I run on my truck (3" lift and 33" tires) and I like it better. My MPG's did not get worse, they stayed the same as the Pro.
It can be ran on any truck, it is just recommended over the Pro on heavy/Overlander trucks for sure.

Had some grandpa stuff to do earlier and made a quick trip to Verizon to get my hotspot activated on the account. Just got it flashed and it is idling at the moment to get the base idle fuel trims ect settled in. ETA I did have to update the VFtune software again, crazy since I updated it on the 29th of January. That was one of my biggest gripes about OVT was the constant changes and updates

The updates are mandatory. All the updates are improving vftuner software. Plus adding more support for various platforms.

Allan is a hit or miss. He replies sometimes and sometimes he doesn't. I was suppose to meet up with him for a tune but he said something came up and said he will have to come at a later time. I had stuff planned so I didnt have time to wait around. Also if a problem did happen with the tune it would probably be a pita to meet up or schedule something again, so I never got the tune.

That IS right next door! I was just up there last September. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (?) right by the mall. Ate breakfast at Sophia's. Was one of the best places I've ever been to for breakfast.

That’s how I’m starting to feel. I finally got a hold of him and on three separate occasions so far we’ve picked out a time for him to call me to talk about the whole process and every single time nothings happened. I’m sure the guy is great but he’s probably just really busy but at the same time I’m really trying to get this tune done as soon as possible and I just don’t think he’s probably gonna be the guy. So I really have to start looking around for other people. I also never even thought about that, the whole if something does go wrong and trying to get a hold of him that would suck for it to take weeks for anything to be able to get done.

Sounds like you should just purchase the vf tuner and do it yourself. I bought one but haven’t used it yet ( just got my truck yesterday) so then I don’t have to rely on someone else.

There has been texting back and forth and we just can’t seem to connect it seems. I’m sure the guy is busy and I don’t want to be annoying to him I just want the tune lol! I’ve called a few times but no answer and he was supposed to call me but never did. Again, all I’ve heard is good things about Allan so I’m not bashing him I’m just hoping we can somehow get some setup and get the tune done

Yeah man, I originally found him on FB and then it was almost the same way there. For now I just ended up getting a sprint booster I found on the market place for cheap. Haha, I know the tune will be better but not many ppl do it here in PA. I think he lives in Malboro, NJ. My main concern was what if something happened with the tune and had an issue like needed a reflash or something. Would probably have a hard time to get a hold of him to have him fix it. That's why I'll just deal with it for now. There is another guy that does it but he's located in MD, believe his name is Dave.

@TWTaco got my truck updated to KDMAX-PRO+ yesterday.

First impressions - KDMAX-PRO+ with sport throttle fits my truck like a glove. 295s on stock gearing, full armor/overlanding kit, my truck is a heavy beast.

    • With the new tune, it's moving like it was stock naked again. Effortless
    • More power at all points, less shifting required to accelerate the truck
    • less RPM/quieter at all points
    • the engine sounds more relaxed & healthier
    • smoother shifting
    • +2 MPG

I knew it was going to be better but this is a rather remarkable, across-the-board improvement. More smooth power with seemingly less engine strain. Truly black magic.

First time in a long time that I've seen my truck shift to and hold 6th while traveling up hill.

You guys really knocked it out of the park here with this tune. Thanks again!

How do you like the sprint booster? I really hate the back and forth game and the scenario you brought up with possibly having an issue scares me so maybe I will go the other route(spring booster/pedal commander) for now until i can find someone close enough and easily available.

So I just got back from the dunes last night . Drove 500 miles round trip. Up and over Snoqualmie pass twice . Did a good amount of piss mobbing in the dunes for a couple days . Hottest trq converter temps I seen were 220°F which it cooled down immediately. I was loaded super heavy. Pulling up the pass 4th held strong . A lot of the time I was in ect 5th gear . On my way home yesterday in to the wind it was 4th gear the whole time till I got to my side of the mountains . Few times I had to downshift to 3rd to pass vehicles . I was getting about 300 mi to the tank doing 60 mph to 75 mph. For having my quad up on end and acting like a wind sail I say this tune definitely has been a major improvement since I had you mod kdmax pro+ . All I gotta say is great work for sure .

Anyone ever have any issues with a "lumpy" feeling power delivery on a KDmax protune? I only really notice it when giving more than 25% throttle or so, say on an onramp in 2-4th gear. 6MT. it irregularly feels lumpy every half second or so while getting on the gas. Truck has 2000 miles, about 1000 miles on the tune. Does it regardless of which gas I am using. Truck is stock, otherwise.

I think I read the ProTune isn't meant for those of us with three pedals under the dash; maybe you got the wrong tune.
