Property care suddenly got a lot more fun!

 

I picked up 2 yards of compost with one in the truck, one on the trailer.

It towed nicely and was very stable.

The trailer tires stayed cool, but I don't think I'd carry any more than that.

Used and got the high limb saw stuck 20ft up. Pulled the limb down with the tractor. Ended up cutting down 3 trees but not the one that I need to. The rest were in the way of felling it safely. By the time I got everything cut up and on the woodpile and brushpile I was beat.

That seems to cut quite quickly when it isn't stuck.

My high limb saw kit was just delivered today, yard is still a quagmire so I won't be trying it out just yet.

...that and outside of mowing I really don't like yard work all that much...

 

Undercut the limb pretty heavily when you start by going far to one side then the other and maybe it will fall straight down rather than hinging and sticking like mine did.

I knew better but didn't feel like arguing then suffered the consequences.

 

One advantage of my being a one man crew I guess.

No the wife was helping/sabotaging me.

I cleaned out, adjusted the low idle, flipped the bar, and sharpened the chain on my Poulan 2150 today and cut another standing dead cherry back there. Running pretty good for a 22 year old 36cc saw.

Got this one home today.

Put a battery in and cranked it over.

No strange sounds while cranking, just backfire thru the carb and no start.

Gonna pull the plugs and valve covers next to see if valve issues. Hopefully not a sheared flywheel key.

The kid I got it from said he put a new stator on it 2 years ago.

Said it quit on him and wouldn't start.

4000 hours! Wow!

Well, shit!

I have a properly functioning valve train and the pistons are both moving correctly.

Spark while cranking seems unusually bright.

I'm thinking I have a sheared key way in the flywheel.

I guess it's time to pull the engine and dig deeper.

Will report in as updates occur.

 

Working alone has both challenges and advantages.

You made short work of that log, that saw rips along pretty good.
A thing I always notice in your photos/videos is that your gear/place is always so clean.
