    Hello;
Can anyone tell me if I should look for an entire transfer case to replace an electronic shift motor that activates 4 wheel drive in an auto., 95 (1st generation) Tacoma?
If so, where would you look?
No such motors available locally; none made anymore or so I've been told.
    Local salvage has none.
Who have you had good luck with ordering from online?

    Thanks,
    Sam

    It's called an actuator.
    Dorman aftermarket aren't half bad
I believe 1995 used vacuum actuators not electric.
Do you have locking front hubs ?

    Thanks, it's not the actuator.
Just had a mechanic dig into it.
Its the electronic shift motor in transfer case.
No, I do not have locking front hubs.

Update: we don't know if it's the actuator until we get power from the electronic shift motor which connects via a shaft into transfer case.
I found one in a junk yard supposedly from a first generation Tacoma with 80,000 miles.
But the junk yard guy is a curmudgeon and I worry he rarely tells the truth.
Will probably have to go get it.
    $200.00.
This has been a lot of work and I really don't understand what is going on.

    Is this a 95 4wd Toyota pick up or a 95.5 Tacoma 4x4 ?

Did the 95 year even have electronic anything?
With no hubs, I'd assume the front diff actuator is the culprit

And that early of a year, it might be vacuum actuated.
