2020 Double Cab Short Bed V6 2wd stock other than Leer topper and some tools in the bed and I do mostly city driving and average around 16-17mpg. When traveling on the interstate for long periods of time cruise controlled around 80 mph I get around 22-23 mpg.

*edit* forgot to mention I run the always on ECT module cause I couldn’t deal with the way my truck drives without ECT on.

Areas in the north are still running winter blend. You’ll get better Mpg with the summer blend and warmer air.

I get about the same for my 90% stock off-road long bed, even with a tune. But I've added weight in sliders, a tonneau cover and some miscellaneous gear, since I now help everyone and their grandmothers move stuff! LOL.

Clean the maf sensor with maf cleaner if it hasn’t been done . Gained back some noticeable power and mpg after I did on my 2017 .

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
It's within the expected range. Last fill up a few days ago was 17.8 gallons of Shell 93 after 385 miles of mostly country road/city driving for an average of 21.6mpg. This is consistent with the last few tanks. I always coast in neutral to stop lights and drive conservatively in the right lane at the speed limit.

So with gas prices like this, does anyone think that people will keep stomping WOT from stoplight to stoplight and braking late? I don't.

ECT on, all gas no brakes. It’s the only way to live.

It's just people in denial. They know full well that they were in the perfect situation that put them at such a high mpg. Which was a long downhill drive with some tail wind. Whatever makes them feel better about their purchase and possible regrets about fuel economy, I guess

2021 MT, slight lift, DOM sliders, and 33s. MPG went from 17 to 14.5, but I suck at MT and my commute is going up a windy hill about 7 miles. I was able to pull off 17-18 on the freeway over about an hour, lifting my foot off the gas whenever possible.

Naw, the weight on a truck doesn't have much to do with fuel mileage. With cars, yes. I've driven cross country with myself and 2 other adults in the cab along with a few hundred pounds of camping gear in the back multiple times. Fuel mileage is the same as when I'm in the cab alone and with an empty bed.

The biggest fuel mileage killer on a truck is wind resistance followed by aggressive driving, fuel quality and the tires. And I've always gotten better fuel mileage in mountains. Yes, you burn more fuel going up, but eventually everything evens out and you'll drive just as many miles going down as up. And being able to coast down hill more than makes up for the extra fuel you burned going up.

Speed matters much more with a truck than a more aerodynamic car. Keep a truck under 60-65 and fuel mileage is probably optimized. Above 70 and you see a notable drop. Above 80 and it sucks. I find 65-70 is a good compromise for me. Much slower and it takes forever. Any faster and the cost of fuel starts to hurt. Wide tires, aggressive tread, and underinflated tires can rob you of 3-5 mpg. And sometimes you just get a bad tank of fuel.

on my current tank of gas i am getting 16.2
thats babying it. never going above 70. light touch on the pedal unless i need to get into a spot in traffic. gas prices have me with a light foot.
    my average is about 15.
bigger tires, lift and other stuff that makes it low.

That’s why mine has been bad then. Around 15-16 highway miles 77-80

I always thought highway miles with constant speed helps, guess not lol

My commute is through/over a mountain and I get approximately 20mpg average per the dash display calculation.

I do about 65-70 the whole way with almost no traffic.

I did notice the big decrease in mpg when above 75mph on even flat ground.
