Bought wheels and tires today. Not a very nice purchase. Kinda scared about not liking the wheels in person. Wanted Trail Ready but have been searching for 2 months and its all the same 12 week wait. So, went with good ole method and I haven't seen anyone with them so at least its different. 8 lug but almost same bore as the buggy hub and 40" cooper stt pros. Gonna be a few weeks til delivery.

The wheels are amazing! Im more worried about the ridiculous gold truck matching to them. I have never had such a hard time picking a wheel in my life. I usually know from the second I see a car what wheel I want. Not here. Wish the truck was black or jade!

Hell, I've wanted to do that to the Tacoma, then the 4Runner. Now I want to do the LC.

Would love to do it in cement grey

Got a little done on front axle after work. Kind of a pain in the ass but prob 1 hr in and she is about 50% stripped. Prob an hour of flap discoing smooth. Cutting the housing back 2” is gonna take 2 hours just cause it has to be done slow. My plasma needs tips or I would have used it. But I like the pain obviously.

Did the final silicone and locktite job on my cases, put trans all back together. Siliconed the extension housing on and got this as a surprise. Damn 2wd trans doesn’t have a 3rd hole for ext housing which I haven’t heard one person mention yet regarding the swap. So took it apart, cleaned silicone, tapped, re siliconed and realized I couldn’t put the coupler on after! Fml! Had to take off again.

Also, the trail gear coupler is so floppy dick on the trans input shaft that the only way I would feel comfortable installing it is with a tac or jb weld so it didn't warp outta round. If the marlin coupler doesn't fit on tight, its gettin som pakistani engineering.

BTW! I read that bellhousing bolts are m12x1.25 which are the same as these ext housing bolts on here and only the 17mm ones are m12x1.25. The 14mm bolts are smaller. I used a m9x1.00 tap I believe. I started drilling w a 3/8 and had to stop and go down 2 bit sizes.

Got my shocks at least. Just need the springs. These are 14” 2.0 fox emulsions. Part (980-02-011) They are big! Good for me since I don’t do any high speed stuff. If that changes gonna have to go w something w a res and bigger bore. Btw, thanks to @malburg114 for the referral on the shock spot that sent me shocks that were 30 days out to my house in 5 days!

I started at 9am and worked till almost 12 and still not done with the axle. Turning out to be harder than I thought. 1 more hour and im done but it will be a 4-5 hour project just to get the brackets off. That is not even cleaning it up. Prob 2 hours in that and then I have to extend the driver side so I actually have a tube to weld to. I shoulda went with an older leaf spring ford axle. I hope this choice is not gonna be a regret.

Ordered all the front suspension shit that was in stock today. They are backordered on the enduro joints for the lowers but got almost everything else. Got the 4 link brackets and gonna just use one on the driver side and save the other for my next pass drop project. Gotta modify the upper link housing mount and hope I can actually use it. Looking like all the barnes 4wd stuff will end up being in the 1100-1200 range and all i need to source is local dom tubing which is cheap as shit here. Prob gonna save me like 3k over the 4wu kit. Wish I had the 4wu upper link/lower link frame mount but I can't get so whatever.

Went with the 20 degree offset coil mount/lower link combo. Im kind of happy cause they look like they will be perfect for this application. Got a few other things that didn't fit in the pic. High steer kit on backorder too. which sucks! FUCK! I just realized I ordered the steering kit 2x! damn! Another 30 min of phone shit down the tubes! FML

From personal experience I'd only use a 2 part coating on the engine bay - brake fluid and other stuff will make any 1k stuff go right back to the factory color like it wasn't ever there.

I primed with self etching primer but no paint yet. What do you suggest? I heard that eastwood stuff was decent.

The only 2k I know of that is easy to guarantee would just be to automotive clear the base coat like as if you were doing the body - I haven't looked into any more paint after having a former student cut his teeth on painting my body panels the same color as a wrap I'm going to use for a safety net in case the wrap peels and the paint is showing through until I can replace the wrap - as long as people say brake fluid isn't going to remove it, then I'd consider that product.
