One of the all electric danger noodles got a new wrap this week
    20220321_150604.jpg

Electric buses go on a random 12hr day shift (they can't make it on the 18hr runs), so I've planned out shifts the next two weeks that have high probably to get it

Not too bad! I did notice a little bit of a diff leak on Sunday, but I'll take care of that this weekend. Otherwise she's been treating me well! (I'm knocking soooo hard on all the wood I can find) I've been doing a lot of dog/house sitting lately, so I haven't had a chance to hit any trails recently. This weekend is my first free one for months if anyone wants to go anywhere!

Are the rear most wheels just trailing along? They're not powered or steerable, right?

On the diesel or hybrid bendies, the 3rd axle is actually the only driven axle and the 3rd axle is not steerable. Its pretty much like if you take two straight 35' pusher buses, cut the back off one and the front off of another, and glue them together.

On the electric bendies, it has hub motors on the center axle and a drive motor/full axle setup on the 3rd axle.

Could I fit one of those hub motors on the taco?

Might have to run 22.5s, but I think a little hub motor retrofit could easily be done in 1 mod day

Another plus, you wouldnt have to worry about breaking an axle shaft or a ring and pinion ever again

Yes but you might have to cut a hole in the bed for the pumpkin.

Nice thing about hub motors is that there is no pumpkin

The rear axle though has big ol pumpkin. Single axle weight rating 28,484lb

The bendies have a 466kwh battery and charging takes about 3-4 hours via a charging cord (similar style to like a Tesla where you plug the cord into the side, although much thicker cable for more sauce). We only have these chargers at the bus garage, so after 12 hours and/or 120ish miles the have to come back. They are currently working on some infrastructure improvements on the VT campus to have rapid chargers at timechecks that interface with these charging rails on the roof. They can handle much more current through these, and then they can get topped off during the day

Closest bus is the electric. All others in frame are diesel
