In my school district, all you needed was an ear. The fire house would blow its horn 10 times at 7:05 if school was closed. It wasn’t the only way to know, but didn’t require tv or radio.

Dad’s wasn’t that fancy. Had like pop up sights on it. One got broke and the movie from that family reunion was from the neck down on everyone. We play the guessing game watching that one. Haha!

    Dad had one of these.
After my parents passed away my brother found all the reels of film. He had them put on a flash drive. Gave us all one for Christmas 2 years ago. I hadn't seen them in alot of years. Brought back a lot of memories.

Way before Indiglow I had a Timex glow-in-the-dark “radium” watch. There were no batteries. You just had to wind the spring. Every day.

I still have the Baby Ben wind-up travel alarm clock from the 1950s. It folds up in three pieces like a woman’s compact and it’s covered in real leather.

Women never went to the bathroom. Women went to the “powder room” to “powder their noses.”

Catholic women wore a hat to mass. Jewish men wore a hat to temple.
Baptists all wore hats, men and women.

On TV and radio, almost nothing was ever narrated by a woman. Narrators and announcers were virtually all men.

When the leather wore out in your bicycle pump, you would cut a new one out of leather from the side of an old boot and then grease it up good and put it back in the pump.

I built my own bed frame. Water Bed with no heater. Sleeping bag provided insulation from the cold water. Lot's of "Rocking motion" in those days...

I remember exactly how that was. And if the battery was low, using the backlight would cause the display to dim too much to see it.

When I was young, leather pumps were worn exclusively by bitches. Nowadays, everybody’s got them.
