Unwrapped the harness to change three wires (for the inverter) and I saw that the connector for the 4WD switch has two open terminals that are used for illumination.

I'm going to run two wires so I have illumination at the switch if I ever upgrade.

Better to do this stuff now.

Since I started wheeling my truck I began to gather quite a few things behind the rear seat and on the floorboards in the rear. Straps, tools, recovery gear, spare parts. My double cab was essentially an access cab and I wanted to use my rear seat like it was designed to be use. To haul people. So I initially bought a plastic tub to put my gear in and strapped it to the bed with a ratchet strap which worked for what I needed but gave me worries that someone would remove the strap and walk off with a very expensive yet heavy box of all my stuff. So I started researching toolboxes. I didn't initially want a toolbox but figured if I was going to have a tub in the bed full time might as well bite the bullet and make it a little more secure. I wanted something that sat down inside the bed and not on the bed rails so I could continue to use my softopper and bed rack. So I picked up this cheap Trinity 36" job box and painfully drilled a few holes in my bed and secured it using some stainless steel hardware. Its offset to the passenger side to 1) offset the weight of taco lean and 2) so I can mount a jerry can to the extra space next to it to utilize space as much as possible. Looks a little funny but function > form. While I was drilling holes I also put in a center D ring so I can move my spare into the bed when I wheel so its easier to access and I dont have to deal with being under the truck in the mud. End goal is to eventually mount the traction boards to the front of the box as well.

Those were from Amazon and have done really well. No leaks or fogging. First set came with a corner chipped off. Amazon return and replacement set came quickly. This set has been on for over a year living outside in Florida heat and humidity, soaked in water and mud without a problem.

Finally installed my radio unit and my backup camera. It's been nice to use over the stock unit. Still debating if I want to keep the lines on the backup camera.

I will be. I don’t have a Lexus dealer anywhere close so unless they carry it at the local Toyota dealer I’ll have to get it online.

Nice! Do you think this is more secure than a standard truck bed box that site on the frame rails? What do the locking tabs looks like?

I don't know if its more secure than the classic truck bed tool boxes that sit on the frame rails, I have never had one. Most of those that I looked at were aluminum and used J hooks to tie into the bed rails. This box is all steel so its about double the weight 60lbs (aluminum tool boxes were around 35lbs from the ones I looked at) The aluminum tool boxes were double the price of what I got this one for about the same size. The truck bed boxes use those locking handles with the lock built in. This box is just 2 tabs that slide into those square holes then up under I can slide in a padlock. I put a low profile padlock on both of them so one end cant be pried open with a crow bar on one side.

When I bought my topper rack Sherpa was still a little cheaper but the main reason I went with them is they have better, thicker side rails with built in tie downs and handles that you don't have to pay extra for. They are both great racks, I like the look of a Sherpa rack better. To me Prinsu racks look a little thin and weak, Especially the topper racks. Plus the crew over there are really great and helpful. You can get the wind faring with a cut out from Sherpa also.

Made some progress this weekend. I got my interior ripped completely out and got a most of the floor done with the 80 mil before I had to work last night.

I got work today and the weather is suppose to be nice so as soon as I get home I got to get the rest done and back walls. Then lay the 150 on top of it. It is suppose to be in the 40s for the next week and I don't have a garage to work in so I gotta get it done today or I'm going to be working with a heat gun and in the rain.

    This and that...
They have done really well for me. Got fairly deep on a steep grade off trail going up, made it out with a camper on the back. Also had this lovely 10hr drive in all conditions including ice. Did not break traction but obviously drove cautiously, also with a camper. Weight helped during the 10h drive, but probably not for the steep drive out in the deeper snow. No pictures of that one. Video was from dash cam on the Million Dollar Highway. Can see the ice reflecting the light from the snowplow. Think only a dedicated winter tire would do better. Just get your air pressures right. Hope that helps.

Good on you, I’ll be doin the same as well. My front diff bolt stripped as well and the little bastard was a mother to get out. I have a new Toyota bolt in there now but on the next fluid replacement a Lexus one is going in.
Bu the way, I dig your avatar, it reminds of the self titled Alice In Chains album:headbang:

Has anyone noticed their auto insurance go up lately? Mine is going up $10/mo in April because:

"inflation factors in used vehicle values, car parts and medical claims and injury lawsuits. Used vehicle values in some areas are up 50% since pre covid."

I have Farmers and am looking to shop around at this point.
