high end amsoil

anyone use amsoil using that goes over 10K or more before they do the oil change thru the winder time?

 

I can't speak for myself. Changing over to AMSoil soon. My father has used it for several years and changes the oil based on the severe conditions rating which is 15k or 1 year. He just changes it once a year since he doesn't drive 15k in a year. I think I saw a post on here where someone did the oil analysis after 10k with good results, hopefully they'll chime in.

 

I use the new Amsoil 0w30 and change it once a year but I don't do over 10K miles.
Amsoil says it's good for 25K miles or 1 year or $15K miles severe conditions.
So 15K shouldn't be no problem.
Use an Amsoil EA oil filter and you'll be fine.
It's said to do the same miles as the oil.

 

Oil Analysis is the key. DO NOT go by the claims of AMSOIL or any other manufacturer when it comes to how many miles you can drive on the oil. They are a generic and absolute claim.

I use AMSOIL in my 07 Taco, V6,, Automatic 4x4. 5W-30, with AMSOIL EaO oil filter as well. I was doing 15000 changes, with having the oil analyzed at each change. My last few changes showed a pattern that I didn't like, that the oil was way too close to the end of it's usable life. I'm scaling back to 12000 miles now. I drive about 35,000 to 40,000 miles a year, mostly highway miles.

so ur saying Amsoil advertisements are false? It was hard for me to believe the oil can handle like 25000k anyway... well it said normal driving conditions!!

 

No. There are some cars in ideal conditions that those mileage ranges are possible. Our V6 Tacoma's can not get that kind of mileage range. Neither can the Dodge/Jeep4.7L V8. I know this from testing I had done in a Dakota I had.

Again, Oil Analysis/Testing is key.

 

IMO it's the filter that shoots-craps, not the oil (real or synthetic). I'm on my first oil change w/Amsoil 5w-30, and I have about 6,300 on it...I'm not impressed. I'm going to change oil again at 7k, and go back to Mobil 1.

 

I'm curious how you determined not to be impressed? What testing did you do? What were you expecting? A visual test of the color means nothing.

 

BMW has 15K mile change intervals with Mobil 1.
I wouldn't go 15K on any oil but 8-10K shouldn't be a problem with Mobil 1 or Amsoil.

 

I performed the reverse-osmosis-thermo-nuclear-chemical-analysis test.

For the money, I prefer Mobil 1.

this is what I think people... maybe i should go with 10w-30 for the summer and change it normally like every 5k with mobil 1.... when mid-oct rolls around I'll change it with Amsoil 5w-30 that lasts like 25K and leave it that until spring arrives... what do u guys think about that? Its hard to change oil in the winter time here, its freezing cold!!

 

5000 miles on Mobil 1 change is a waste of money,IMO.
Go at least 7500.
Dino oil is good for 5000 miles.
The Tacoma 4.0L is one of the easiest oil and filter change vehicles made.
