I normally store ~40gal., so I've been using some of that as needed. My avg. cost for what I have stored right now, is 2.69/gal. Current pump prices have relaxed a bit here recently. I saw 3.80 yesterday.
That battery car the kids have been looking at, is not a better solution IMO. The associated costs are constantly ticking up, like everything else. There are issues associated with electric vehicles, that don't exist with gasoline powered vehicles, and vice versa. Everything is a trade-off.

    Morning all:

AND: to add insult to injury, add 18.3c federal tax and a 1c leaking underground storage fee per gallon, so even if those taxes were all removed in Pa. (.586+.183+.01=77.9c), we would still be paying out the yazoo!

I guess seasons are a little goofy here in Florida. Oak trees lose their leaves in February and I spent parts of the last 4 weekends raking said leaves. Not sure what was different this year but it seemed like we had way more that usual. For 3 straight weekends I raked leaves until I ran out of places to put them. Final count was 12 x 30 gal trash cans and 18 lawn and leaf bags. I told myself yesterday I will not rake another f*ing leaf out of this yard and I know that’s a lie because I just looked out back and between the banana trees and bamboo there’s probably 3 more 30 gal trash cans worth.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pfolks! Well, I got it all done yesterday, and I'm too sore today! Somethings not right about that, probably need to check on in with my Dr. It hasn't been hard work, just lots. Oh well. We need the rain, and it will work in the rest of my spray aerator - get those roots awake! We weren't even in the 3 risk level until yesterday, but we are now. Clean some more paperwork, listen to the rain, sounds like it today.

Supposed to be just RAIN until mid-afternoon, then the severe risk comes in. Hail predicted, tornados possible. Good news is the look to be fast moving. If I can just get an inch out of it, I'll be happy, and so will the greenery!

Here’s the taxes and fee’s we pay for each gallon of gas in California
    • Taxes:
Federal Excise Tax: 18 cents per gallon
State Excise Tax: 51 cents per gallon
Sales Tax (estimated): 10 cents per gallon
    • Fees:
Low Carbon Gas Programs: 22 cents per gallon
Greenhouse Gas Programs: 15 cents per gallon
Underground Tank Storage: 2 cents per gallon
California has the highest gas prices in the nation, according to AAA.
Petroleum companies profit per gallon is about 5 cents and gas stations profit is around 4 cents per gallon.
I think we have something to bitch about and it ain’t the tiny profit margins of the oil companies. Yes the oil companies make a lot of money but it is due to volume of sales not high profit margins. These are just facts, nothing at all political, just facts.

The trailer is the latest addition for my recumbent to make it easier on those shopping trips.

There's nothing like buying 45 pounds of dog food on some steep hills to consider adding an e-assist.

That would mess with my head...wrong month to be raking leaves/leafs. Drives ya nuts going "Oh look, more to rake but I swear not one more bag!" (until you just give up and go do it).
What is it with those of us over 60 and bikes of any kind? It's like we suddenly remembered cycling was fun and a lot more fun now than the holy grail of a 10 speed that wasn't really a 10 speed.:notsure:
Good looking set up, wrong month here for it since it's raining most of the time. Indoor cycle stands. They sell out fast :D

Texas flips riding season around. Too hot from July to September, but the rest of the year we get some great days. You can start off with a nice ride (72F in January, but three hours later a north wind drops that to 32F so taking a windbreaker/jacket is always wise).

On those cold/wet days, I do have an indoor trainer. I was all set up for a six-day/600-mile bike ride (from San Francisco to Los Angles) in June. Alas looks like I'll have to move up knee surgery to sooner than that.

Found an interesting website, Norwegian, text in English. https://fittoplay.org/
Click on the body part, some are "injury prevention program" others are "I am injured" and it will have recommendations.

The more we exercise, the better. Still start off slow and work your way up on fitness, so that prevention program has lots of great tips. In my case, my knees are issues with arthritis and previous injuries, numerous surgeries.

This is the truth. I do not know how independent service contractors can stay profitable right now.

Removed all the mulch from the back yard this morning. Put a few new bags back down and going to mulch in the remainder tomorrow. Shrimp tacos tonight.

    OK, they brought my favorite weather guy out of retirement for today. Usually means the weather means business. For the first time in exactly 10 years, our area is under a "4" (of 5) for severe storms. 45% chance of hail, expected to be larger (1" to 2"). If I prepare, nothing happens, so;

:fingerscrossed: for poor Little Big Red, as there was nothing left for her!

Several years ago when there was a huge, sudden increase in fuel prices, Nevada got a windfall. Their fuel tax was based on a percentage of price, and when the price went up the value of the percentage escalated.

The governor somehow convinced the powers-that-be to do a refund to any citizens that had licensed vehicles. If I remember correctly it was $550 per car. We had three. I guess the out-of-staters ended up paying our taxes as they drove through...

I filled up three times today. $4.779 in Fallon, NV, $4.509 in Ely, and $4.399 in Salina, Ut.

    $186 total.

Now for the rest of the story. Let’s take BP as the example.

Lost money in 2020, made money in 2021. Supply and demand determines pricing done by traders. US oil production is down as in other parts of the world.
And where do the profits go. To the evil oil lords? Well while the CEOs and other executives do make millions those billions go to investments in future projects and to stock investors.. many ordinary people like me who have IRAs with some funds including energy in the portfolio. How much?

Not gonna get rich since there are millions of shareholders lol.

Finally as a reminder high gas prices didn’t just happen overnight. Supply and demand. Oil production/ supply down, prices up.

Good morning, everyone. Tacoma goes into the shop today to have summer wheel assembly installed and a fluid change. New shocks in the fall. My summer tires have more tread than I thought so I might hold off a year on new tires on the 17in wheels.
