Only through the power of TacomaWorld did I discover GreenLane, otherwise I would have likely just sourced a TRD skid plate. I’m very happy to support a Canadian shop also.

About 10 bolts/screws if I remember right from taking mine off a couple years back. I had mine off about a month then decided I didn't like to see the undercarriage up front so I put it back on. There are a bolt/screw on each end that is in the tire well. Rest are on the bottom front. I also put the bolt/screws back in the holes when I took mine off last time.

It is so easy a cave man could take it off easily!

If I take mine off again it is going in the dumpster so I won't put it back on. I live in the projects so I don't have anywhere to store it anyhow.

Keep in mind the Off Road & Pro do not come with one, yet get the same est. gas mileage as models that come with it...….

shouldn’t the gas mileage be better once it is removed? You know since like weight reduction. Hahaha.

When I had my air dam off a couple years ago I could hear more noise at highway speeds. Guess if a guy gets use to it you would be alright.

Nothing beats the noise of a hybrid tire with 20-30,000km of wear on a highway. Loud as hell.

I took mine off but after a while the front looked weird to me. Part of me wants to get the TRD skid plate but it looks a little too flashy on the MGM.

The 2018 Honda CRV I traded for this Tacoma had allot of tire/road noise.

I've been testing mine with the chin spoiler removed vs it on. Definitely more wind noise, and a little over 1 mpg less fuel economy. Still undecided as to keep it on, or leave it off, mainly for reasons of removal, and installing the engine skid plate making oil changes easier vs the above.

Found the same with my mum's 2013 Honda Fit. Whenever I drive for her the noise is insane. No floor panel insulation whatsoever. Tires are fine, Michelin winters are really quiet but you hear the rocks, bumps, potholes, and wind rushing echo underneath like nobody's business.

I can not believe how difficult it was to remove it!! I was so torn, it was like I was removing the skewp!! I almost couldn't do it... in the end though, I threw it in a corner of my garage like some other things I deeply valued but quickly forgot... what were we talking about?

    Many!
More wind noise makes sense. At the ends of the chin spoiler you will see 2 "fins" on each side. These are wind turbulators. These are designed to introduce turbulents to the boundry layer formed around the truck. If you look closely at your truck, you will see about 11 of them (counting the 'shark fin' antenna on the roof). Look under your side mirrors and between the side mirror and A pillar. There are also some molded into the tail lights. I am not an Aeronautical Engineer, so I don't understand everything I know about them. They appeared on some Lexus models a few years ago and I'm sure that Toyota has spent some windtunnel time and money developing them. They are prominent on the Toyota GT86. I don't know if they are designed for fuel economy or wind noise reduction or both. If someone knows anything about these, please let me know. I have tried doing some reading about them but it's pretty technical stuff and above my educational background and training!

Had to pull mine off to fit the pushplates for the snow plow. I wonder if the skid plate will fit in between them?

    Ha!

I had approx. 20 miles on the odometer when the air dam, predator steps and the dealership decal all were removed off my new truck.

The '22 SR5 Trail editions were not suppose to have the air dam installed and now they are coming from the factory sans the air dam.

It's a personal thing if you like the way your Tacoma looks with it on great if you prefer the look without it go for it neither way is right or wrong.

Although I think the Tacoma looks better without the factory mudflaps I've left mine on because I don't want a bunch of rock dings on the cab and rear bed when I'm driving down dirt roads where I live.

I didn't get into the theory what this spoiler is there for, but i have noticed a wind noise change when its put back on. I also did some math for the fuel mileage and it has gone down 1.2 mpg when removed.
