So I tried to drive my truck today and noticed my brake pedal almost going to the floor when I was braking. I have a leak coming from where my caliper meets the line at the fitting. Is this something I should try and fix or just tow it somewhere? Also I’m wondering about this plastic type stuff in the fitting.

Put a wrench on it real quick and just see if its loose, if so just tighten it up and clean it with brake cleaner and top off your master cylinder reservoir and see if it leaks! May need to bleed the brakes if your master went all the way down!

Ok I’ll try this in about a hour after this Brisket I have in the smoker is done.

    First off... what is that?20220321_152110.jpg

That doesn't look normal. Have you done any work or had work done on it recently? I would remove the fitting, check to make sure it is clean and not damaged. Reinstall it and then bleed that brake.

That does look strange but if I had to guess maybe some sort of grease? Idk why it would be there tho....

No I’ve never done anything to the brakes. I did install my lift on my own like 20k miles ago but don’t think I did anything to cause that.

It feels like a plasticy Teflon material.

Could have been a piece of plastic on the line when it was installed from factory.

There is usually a coating aka paint on the metal brake lines which brake fluid eats.
