My 2006 tacoma started acting up recently. When I back up while turning, such as when manouvering into a parking spot, the front brakes start vibrating/shuttering. This just started a few weeks ago and was only on the passenger side when turning the wheel to the left and while backing up. Now it is on both sides and I have not been able to pull the tires yet to investigate due to the nasty spring weather.

I'm wondering if this has something to do with the ABS. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Do you feel it in the pedal or are you only hearing a noise?

I feel it in the pedal slightly and there is a little clicking noise. I can stop completely in the turn and hold slight pressure on the brake pedal and it is still vibrating a little even though I'm not moving.
It also seem to clear up after driving for a while.

Have you replaced your front pads recently? Check to make sure your caliper bolts are tight and there's no debris in the rotors.

Haven’t been able to pull the tires yet because every time I get a chance it’s either snowing or raining.

I was already prepared to check calipers and pads. I’ve never encountered this before and I’m worried it’s something more serious than simple brake work.

    thanks everyone for replies

If you still feel the vibrations while stopped, it might not be the brakes. In your first post you wrote the truck was 2006, but in your profile it says 2007. Assuming its a 2007?

How do you know it started with the front passenger side wheel? Im thinking you might have some sort of shudder you feel in the brake pedal, but not necessarily related to the brakes

Profile needs to be updated. Young guy ran a red light back in August and I lost my beloved 2007. I have a new identical taco, but 2006 now.

From the edrivers seat it sure felt like it was coming from the passenger tire. I only had this truck for 2 months before it started and i'm stumped for now or at least until I can get a nice enough day to be able to deal with it.

Considering over 95% of the time our vehicles move forward sometimes drivetrain problems can be amplified when in reverse. Check wheel bearings, CV axles/bearings etc. anything that moves in the front end.
