Ok guys so I bought a 2006 Tacoma with trd sport package. It’s got 4wd and is a crew cab. I was going to get unity 11563 and 11564 loaded shocks but half the sites say they don’t fit and I can’t figure out why. I see that maybe the 4.0 will change the shocks I need but the shocks that they lead me too have the rears with 2 ears instead of one and the rod.. I just can’t see why they wouldn’t fit and I would like some help and insight. Thank you in advance!

My truck is 6 lug also the shocks are like this but for some reason when I put my truck info in to some sites it’s trying to give me the ones with 2 ears.

    Is your truck lifted?
Your profile picture looks like the front has quite a bit more fender well space than “stock”?

Eibach's OE replacement (Pro-Truck) dampers have been great for me so far. These are not the lifted variety (Pro-Truck Sport).

It’s not lifted, its just the angle of the photo! The spacing is identical on level ground

I would say to go with 3rd Gen off-road coilovers and shocks if you don't want to spend too much. They are much better than the 2nd Gen sport shocks and a definite upgrade if they come with the 3rd Gen coils. You can find some people selling them here.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-front-rear-coil-springs-socal-oc-290.619460/

If you can't respond to the post just send the OP of that post a PM. He can sometimes source you a set with a few hundred miles on them

Also check to see if you got the recall leaf springs. Could get yourself a free upgrade on those of it hasn't been done which may give your trucks rear a .50 lift

Do 4 cylinders (5 lug) even come with 4x4? I thought 4x4 only came in 6 lugs.

If all you're trying to do is get a new set of shocks because yours are old?
Look on CL for a set from the 3rd gen Tacoma's a lot of people selling the sets really cheap. They will fit on the 2nd gen Tacoma. Will likely give your front a 1" lift also. (Because your rear springs have settled)

Stay away from the cheap CRAP! They will be dead in a year!

Last spring directly from Ebaich. At the time they had free shipping...might still. I don't know.

They were a little cheaper than the OE Bilsteins. So I went with them. Been about a year with them. Zero issues. And I find the on road ride is more compliant than the Bilsteins.

    According to the Unity website:
    11563: Left Front
    11564: Right Front
    254070: Rear Shock (both sides)

    https://www.unityclients.com/vehicle/setVehicleDetails/2006/76/1037/20/22/8/5

The reason some sites say these dont fit is because they are for a base model 4X4 Tacoma, and not a TRD Sport. When you plug in the TRD option on the Unity website it shows that no shocks will fit. But, all shocks for 2nd Gen 4X4 or PreRunner 6 lug Tacomas are interchangeable with each other. Meaning you can put base 4X4 shocks on a TRD Sport/Off-Road truck and vice versa. But, I do agree with everyone else. Dont buy Unity shocks. If you are looking to save money then buy a set of Bilstein take offs from a 3rd gen Tacoma as they will fit 2nd Gens. Best place Ive seen is on Facebook marketplace.

I'm a 2nd gen. Looks like the part number for the rear shock is the same. But they're showing a different number for the 3rd gen front. Can't imagine what it would be. But you can check it out on Eibach's website.

If you liked the eiboch set get the 3rd gen shock and see if you can get your hands in some OEM 3rd gen springs.

You can actually find some TRD OR take offs cheaper than Eiboch. I was able to get a 3rd gen set with a few hundred miles for close to $400

I don't care for the Bilsteins that much. And though I don't remember exactly what I paid for them as it's been about a year, it was less than $400
