Finally pulled the trigger on the iKamper Skycamp Mini a few weeks back and it arrived last week. Got a pretty decent deal (all things considered). Also got some security hardware/brackets from Wheeleveryweekend.

    20220315_045252.jpg

Spendy, but their stuff is high quality and of course made in the USA. Had a bit of an "oh shit" situation when I tried to use the provided bolts to secure the tent...obviously they were not gonna work...

    20220322_151333.jpg

So I ran off to the hardware store to figure something out. I ended up getting some grade 8 carriage bolts and some heavy guage mending plates...

    20220322_163131.jpg

It's almost as if these plates were made for this purpose, they fit like a glove...

    20220322_163203.jpg

Tightened everything down and couldn't be happier with the finished product...

I like the oem OR wheels. I think they look good. I bought some pro wheels, because they are lighter. But I want to have them blasted or machined. I’ve been on the fence about attempting to machine the face of a few spokes to see where it gets me.

Thanks man. Not gonna lie, I just kinda stumbled across those mending plates. And somehow the holes were perfect for the carriage bolts, and somehow the holes lined up perfectly with the holes on the security brackets.

I thought for sure I was going to have to fabricate something. Sometimes it's better to be lucky. :D

If you have a good lathe or access to one that would definitely be unique! I think it could work with just the outer squares machined. You would definitely be a trend setter here! New mod! :goingcrazy:

If you’re removing material, even lighter wheels is where it’s going to get you.

Today I did a rear diff and engine oil change. I’m pretty much finished changing my truck now except for regularly scheduled maintenance.D65BD5BB-8C36-41C8-AC6A-1A799F6142A2.jpg90482D9D-D29E-477E-A620-ECEA128F82C2.jpg

I really need to get into the habit of tracking maintenance and mods like that. That's what "right" looks like.

I’ve been doing this to my vehicle since 2013, huge game changer for me and it helped with the resale value of my previous rig

EDIT: all these notes are in the Toyota app as well I’m just used to and prefer having a paper copy

I’ve been tracking in the mytoyota site, helpful as I think it transfers if you were to sell - also electronic
