My wife and I will be picking up our new (to us) '18 Forest River NOBO 19.5 this weekend. it's coming with anti sway bars and a WDH.

specs: GVW: 3343lbs, 23ft, hitch weight: 365 lbs.

truck is currently stocked, but have an appt to get the truck tuned (OV tune) next week. new tires will be on in April. (falken wildpeaks /265/70/16).

I plan on adding SumoSprings (blue ones) to help with better handling and towing.

any other things to making towing a bit easier?

You have a tow package, correct?

    Does the trailer have brakes?

Brake controller. I conveniently have one for sale :spending:

I like air bags over sumosprings.

If it’s over 3000lbs from the factory, DOT requires brakes, so it will have them

If you’re just throwing money around, a wireless trailer TPMS system is cool as heck and useful

presume the truck is AT ? if so just remember to use the S mode for towing. As others note get a brake controller (your trailer will have electric brakes), Sumo or air bags for rear suspension/load, and KDMax or equal Tune. Cherry on top would be a SC and gears but at your elevation you should be fine without them. Congrats and GL!

You're fine.. I just pulled about 6k pounds on a 21' OR that was stock. I was even getting about 13/14 mpg. I would use the ECT button for whatever that's worth.

Here's what I added for towing our trailer:
    • Redarc Tow Pro Elite brake controller
    • Tacoma specific plug and play cable for brake controller
    • Tacoma specific switch blank adapter for brake controller knob
    • ScanGuage II for monitoring transmission temperatures
    • Grand Aero3 Towing Mirrors
    • Sumo Springs
    • TPMS system for trailer tires
    • Rear view camera for trailer (ours was pre-wired for the Furrion Vision S Camera)
    Tow in S4, ECT on.

It allows the trailer brakes to work and lets you adjust their sensitivity. Without the controller, you truck is doing all the braking.

Also you *will* need side-window extensions because most covered trailers are too wide to see down the sides to see traffic.

Plus you will eventually want a rear camera since you cannot see anything about what's going on behind you.

Yes, you need a brake controller and the Red Arc in the link posted above is perfect. Do not even attempt to tow without a brake controller unless you're just going around the block (and even then I wouldn't do it).

I'd try to find some fundamental towing tutorials on YouTube if you're completely new to it.

For the trailer you want to have a few things besides the basics. Some of these may come with your trailer.
    • Water pressure regulator (some campgrounds have crazy high pressure that can damage the plumbing in your trailer)
    • EMS with Surge protection (30 amp)
    • Wheel chocks
    • Leveling Blocks

Re-gear would be a better first step.
