welp, there’s the heart of the matter I’d say. You never had it re-inspected in your new location. They (dealership) didn’t tell me about the inspection either. I had to inquire about it to get the concrete details. The dealership is just a middleman between you and Toyota at any rate.

i didnt live in salt state when i had it done. KY is salt state but not TN. What i read says only vehicles in salt states get the CRC coating if it passes inspection. I do wonder whether if vehicles in non salt states were supposed to get the 2nd inspection though.

Any truck covered by the warranty is eligible to have a final inspection but it’s still the owner’s duty to bring it in for that prior to the 12 year deadline. From the sound of it if you’re a few days late you missed your chance unfortunately. A service advisor at the dealership I use told me they’d check it out once a year until the warranty ends.

I can tell you this from my own experience: When I purchased my 2014 last summer, the selling dealer, the dealer where I got my oil changed, and the parts guy that used my VIN to look up some part I needed, all made a VERY big deal about the frame inspection required before March of this year, had not been performed in order to extend the warranty on my frame until 2026. "Very important", "you have to get it done before it's too late", "it's free" were all expressions I heard. "Urgent" I got it done early this year. They cleaned, inspected, and white-icing gooped the frame and declared it good/sound/no-trouble found. I have no idea if it was ever inspected and declared good prior. "1st visit"? It's used, and nothing comes up on the "Toyota Owners" web site. The inspection I had done is in there now: and I have "the paper. So here is what I intend to do: twelve months from that date until 2026 I'm going to schedule an oil change at the dealer every year and ask them to inspect the frame for the rust problem issues. I'll make sure it says it on the service write-up. Who knows if they'll really put in an effort, just "mail it in" so to speak or tell me to "get lost". I will request it and ask for it and document it and go right to the final date for "in service". I'll keep up my own inspections in the mean time, Fluid Film and paint the spots that need it every year. If one dealer won't inspect it every year, I'll find one who will. Squeaky wheel. Be nice, be professional. It works. If I legit deserve a new frame, I'll get one.

Your owners manual gives vehicle care instructions.
    Rinse the undercarriage
Before you run to an attorney screaming Toyota fucked me consider what reasonable care have I given my Tacoma?

And the number of folks who actually read their Owner's Manual is?

    Very, very small.

How many frame notices were discarded unopened as junk mail ?
The frame service campaign letters all came from Toyota Corporate marked
    Importany Extended Warranty Notice
    DO NOT DISCARD.
They looked nothing like local dealer junk mail.

I absolutely agree - and some folks still threw them out or failed to take action.

    In 2000 Toyota offered me 150% of what I paid for a 99 LBRC 2.7L 4x4 but I bought a 03 LBXC SR5 2.7 4x4 and sold the 99 to my younger brother.
Kept undercarriages of both rinsed and Wool Waxed annually.
Both Tacos are on the road.
My Nephew drives the 99 to fish the Outer Banks NC. with 380,000 mi. on it.

Some on here suggested a good coating of drip spray before winter. I don't bother with that. It's cold during winter and I park outside, plus I wash the underside after every storm. Rust doesn't happen quickly in the cold.

I do the drip spray coating in early spring.

This is my guess on the best timing for drip spray applications

Yup, though I will also say that unless people knew about it I bet few others really figured on this happening. I was abreast of the general issue due to my wife having had a 96.

This is true. But this is also not the company's fault.

And I bet people still tossed them.

I don't do this role in my company now but when I started in customer service so many would say "I didn't know" or "you didn't tell me" etc. We had a Rights and Responsibilities document I always referred to and I think it's good on both sides. One was you have the RIGHT to get clear information from us, you have the RESPONSIBILITY to read your plan materials and ask questions of us if you are not understanding or don't see your issue mentioned. To be honest even knowing better with my career I still have to force myself to read the things they send regarding my plan at work..

    All great. Blame the owners.

but keep in mind the letter I got never said anything about a second inspection before 12 years and neither did the dealer after my first inspection and application. I found out about that HERE and called Toyota to verify. And yes they owe me an inspection in 2026 before the 12 yrs.

Yes, many don't read it but really doesn't matter you should be penalized because the dealership misrepresented the truth. Dealerships are corrupt and actively violate consumer rights.
I received a notice for frame inceptions I need to find it.

Hence where I stated if you don't understand the print, call and ask. Trust me when I say my field is one people usually know nothing about

I have a question regarding my 2014 that I purchased new, I have received notice for the frame inspection and I am hesitant to have the wax (CRC) sprayed. My truck has never been driven on snow or salted roads (Virginia). My frame is like new, no rust inside of boxed sections, A/C drain extension installed when new. The recall will extend my warranty 4 years, so if they inspect and spray wax my frame what benefit will it be? Once the wax spray is applied I will no longer be able to see the areas where it is applied so if rust develops under the wax I will not know.
I have read the procedure the techs are supposed to follow for the application which includes running a wire brush up through the boxed frame, cleaning and drying before applying CRC (wax). How does one know the wax is applied properly and thoroughly? This truck has 32,000 miles. So what is your opinion do I or Not get the wax sprayed? I have no problem with the frame plugs being installed.

    My frame passes inspection.
I didn’t get any coating. I got the TSB Springs and sent home:notsure:
Actually, they did the inspection at the time they did the TSB springs.

Going by the pictures that have been posted here.
You’ll know by seeing it leak out of the frame orifices.
