I had to sign a disclosure when I bought my truck last month promising I wouldn't stack up floor mats.

Just a bunch of old crap
If women would quit driving with 5" heels on, and douchy metro men would stop driving Priuses like sportscars, this would have never been an issue.

I have the dangerous old all weather mats, as well as a non butchered gas pedal.

    All my acceleration is intentional.

Hey I will admit it, the pedal got stuck on the mat when I was passing someone and it scared the shit out of me. Slammed the truck in N...REDLINING now 6k...and then I slam the gas pedal again realizing that it was stuck. For that 5-6 secs I was like WTF!!! NO WAY!!. Hit the brakes nothing...if the truck had the brake override like others do non issue.. Yota missed the boat on that. Pay out cause it happens...and when it happens to you cause you didn't want to get it fixed. You'll be like. DAmn that shit just happend to Me? LOL. hope your ok after it does..cause I check all gas pedals, mats now on everything I drive.

    X2

    New Things to come:

    1. It seems , cars will be sold with out gas pedal and steering wheel to combat unintended acceleration and unintended tree hitting. :D

    2. Toyota will replace steering wheel with additional 6 cup holders.
System that replaces steering wheel will be called Ds-TRAC (Dumb Shitz Traction Control)

    3. Tires will be replaced with solid rubber filled with soft compound to combat inability to check tire pressure.

    4. Engines will be electric running of AAA batteries since oil changes will be performed and understood only by Ph D in Quantum Mechanics

    5. FSM will be replaced by Car Maintenance for Dummies. It will have only one page that says "Bring your short bus to dealer immediately dummy"

    6. DMV will replace their Tests with pre-school grade entry tests (ex. Can you draw dinosaur little boy?)

    7. 4x4 will not be needed because everything will be paved even offroad trails. 99.9% Tax on salary will provide enough money to install heated mats in areas that receive snow.

Welcome to Costco, I love you
    :D

My point was simple. In a consumer culture that uses fear as the primary motivator for nearly everything, these product recalls are going to be more common.

The average consumer reacted to media hype with no real basis in fact.

The fact that every other car manf. in the world sat back and took advantage of the hypefest is not a government conspiracy in my book. It's just capitalism :)

They would still cut it since that will still be an active recall. This finding still points to the floor mats and sticking pedal as being the cause, it's only eliminating the thought that there was an electronics problem.

It's not entirely closed. Not as far as the entire industry is concerned. This should be a study of interest because it is industry-wide (all automakers have claims of unintended acceleration on the books).

    From MSNBC...

"The National Academy of Sciences is conducting a separate study of unintended acceleration in cars and trucks across the auto industry. The panel is expected to release its findings this fall."
