Ive run the cheapest of cheap red dots and have been pretty happy with the performance at range. Never got out of spec. That being said the sig that i have now is a good bit nicer but i guess is still consider cheap? IDK lol. All i know is it cost 5 times the red dot i had haha.

Don’t disagree at all, but on the other hand I also understand the large, single investment is a lot harder to manage for most people compared to the rifle which you generally piece together bit by bit.

It’s primarily a range / competition gun. An AR would be very far down my list for home defense.

I have had cheap scopes in the past and it’s really not worth it in the long run. My hunting rifle is rocking a budget Tasco and I absolutely hate it.

    Eh.

I lived in America long enough to know that value is a state of mind. For instance, the majority of people who make money with tools tend to invest in real tools in the long run. Where as a home owner who’s doing 1 project my get a cheap saw or something.

Guns and gear are the same way. Outside competition, they are tools. You merely invest in what you think it’s worth. The cost of this is inconsequential. If one wants it, they will find away to get it. If you’re THAT poor, then guns shouldn’t be a priority unless you make a living behind one. If it’s for defense, how much is your, or others life worth?

If one is that poor, your phone better be a Motorola and you better be driving a 1st Gen Tacoma…because if they are on the forum with their $1000 iPhone and financing their 3 rd gen….you can afford $1000 scope if you wanted too…it might not be a financial priority, but you can get one..

Don't disagree with this either, just saying I understand the sticker shock that comes with a lot of optics, and why most people go for the Strike Eagles and Holosuns vs the Razors and Aimpoints.

I've gotten a lot better over the years, but I've been guilty myself of "finishing" a rifle and moving on to something new instead of finishing with a proper optic setup.

Quantity vs quality. If I only had 3 guns, they'd all have high dollar optics.

I think someone was joking the other day about the same applying to buying new guns before stocking ammo for the other ones lol.

I would actually appreciate that and look forward to seeing it. When I get these 2,projects tied up I may just build me a cheap build with some cheap optics that’ll run and spray paint that bitch and shoot the living shit out of it.

It's just paint Phillip. Just imagine a pattern you'd like and spray lightly.

I may try it on a 15" Aero keymod rail I have laying around. I have Mlok on all my others, so I won't ever use it. I may get a tan, OD, grey and tape/paint and see which color I like best. I'd really love a Magpul grey for some reason.

It just seems like it would be a fun project. 30 years of painting I like playing with stuff and seeing what kinda pattern I can get with different colors.
