It will remain stock for the foreseeable future. How much lift did you get up front on the 881 and how are your CV angles? Any boot issues?

I just bought this kit and was recommended 881’s by a lot of people here in the forum. I haven’t installed them yet. I was in the same position as you and didn’t want a mile of lift. I have the same truck as you. Double cab, V6, Auto. All of these things add a little weight. My buddy has the 880’s and his truck has a little more rake than I would like. That’s why I decided on the 881’s. The Wheeler’s kit has went up 3 or 400 dollars since last month. It looks like just differentials still has a pretty good price on it but some of the goodies are not included.

I'm not converted to 4x4 yet, so no cv's.
    I think I got 2.75 and settled to 2.25.

OME 881s with bilstein 5100s. 2” AAL and 5100’s in the rear. It’s settled a little more now in the front.

I vote 881s too. Thats what I have with 5100s (bottom setting). When I first installed these awhile back I went through a couple CVs. I installed a diff drop kit and haven't ripped a boot since (knock on wood). Some say the don't do much, but for me they have. Except for suspension my truck is stock.

881’s for sure. You will be happy with it. 880s will settle to almost 1-1.25”. 881s may sit higher for a little while but will settle .

I purchased 881's, nitrochargers all the way around and Dakar leafs for the rear yesterday. All going on a 98' Taco 4x4.....should I sit pretty level or will I expect to need add a leafs as well?
My 881's and nitrochargers are set up with a 1" spacer on top that I don't intend to use as I've read my cv's will really suffer if I do....
Oh yea. If it effects the answer I have a fiberglass topper on the bed as well.

I guess about 2 - 2 1/2". Probably more before they settle. Unfortunately, I never took before/after measurements. My Dakars are the old style, very well seasoned, and I still have a little rake. I removed the canopy to work on it and I gained some lift, so I'm thinking they still have a lot of life in them. I even had to put some sandbags in the back to smooth out the ride.

I believe they are, I bought the 881's and front nitrochargers separate from a private party unused and went to the local Toyota hot spot for whatever I needed OME on the rear to match.
They were the ones that talked me out of using the 1" spacer on top of the 881's that came on them and set me up with the rear OME leafs. I asked if it was likely I would have to add to them to get to level with the front and he seemed confident it would set level....but....I read here of others with the same setup needing an add a leaf as well?
In pic you can see the spacers on top they talked me out of using.16431637352392831138560544613880.jpg 16431637352392831138560544613880.jpg

About a year in with my OME lift and I still love it, but it’s a lot squeakier now.

I ran a spacer lift on my first 01 I owned and it was a cheap option. A lot of people frown on them but if it’s just to level on a budget and if you aren’t wheeling hard, they work fine imo.

honestly you will be fine with the 881s and the dakars, you should sit pretty good. I wouldn’t worry about it.

    Hi, Noob here.

I'm looking to upgrade my suspension on a 150k, 04 prerunner Xtra cab. Will add rock sliders and bigger tires at some point. Just weekend trips to the mountains and the occasional off-road. Besides travel gear the only load in the back is usually doggo and (future) partner if she misbehaves.
    • Would the basic OME 881 kit do?
    • What's the best price I can get on these and where to install in CA? Im willing to wait. Thanks in advance amigo/as

I just picked up a 2004 ExtraCab TRD Offroad 4x4 and it has a full OME setup on it with nitrochargers but it rides like a dang lumber wagon. Like way rougher than a 1 ton. 881 coils up front with SPC uppers and Dakar medium load leaf springs in the rear. Otherwise stock weight. Setup has 28,000 miles on it so surely it has settled. Do they all ride that bad or is something up with it? Thoughts appreciated.

I got 880 with Nitrochargers and they are super smooth especially over bumps.
