Green is my favorite color so i kinda gravitate toward that. A multicolor scheme would work well around here some green. brown. and grey. The old ASAT pattern camo is good also a very light tan base with black and brown stripes it kinda blends in with everything and nothing it simply breaks the outline up

Whatever you buy just make sure to test spray it first colors may not always be what they describe
WhenI did my 308 AR I had to go a couple shades darker than the "magpul" FDE can just to get it close to actual magpul fde

Keymod was my first one. My first 5 or so builds were done with keymod. I took a break from building them for a couple of years and it seems that Mlok won. I only use Aero rails b/c of the enhanced uppers. They no longer offer keymod.....so Mlok it is :D I have no complaints with keymod. I run a lot of the same things on all my stuff, so it seemed Mlok was the way to go.

I've read/seen YT vids that say the coyote brown is actually a better match to the Aero/Magpul FDE.

This. Optics are one of the most important parts of a rifle.

Maybe they spent all their available funds on the rifle and the inexpensive optic gets them shooting? :notsure:

I guess if I had $1100 to spend on a bolt gun, I’d balance the rifle and glass a little better.

I understand but for some the rifle is the base and optics can be upgraded later. Sure some may never upgrade but that's their choice I guess.

Unfortunately, if we are talking precision rifle, it doesn’t work that way. You don’t have to start with tier 1 scope, but starting with a Walmart scope isn’t going to do anything but burn ammo, and foul your barrel.

It’s also a very technology based sport that people always “want to try” but actually does require spending money. I can’t think of anything really below $500 optic new that would be worth starting off with.

If it’s a once in a lifetime hunt, you may want a scope with a better track record for abuse, like holds a zero, not just warranty. AND you’ll want to make sure it works, like accuracy wise, like your turrets need to be within a certain accuracy amount, or your reticle needs to actually be 1 mil, or .5 moa, etc.

Most scopes on most bolt actions minus some of that Jeff copper bullshit, are telescopic sights. If you’re not willing to go shoot without sights, or with poor sights, or with sights that do whatever they want, why would you spend $1000 on a rifle? Accuracy at that point is apparently not your thing.

Me personally, I'd rather have the gun be the high dollar option if you're starting with a set amount. The optic can always be upgraded. I run Vortex or Swampfox b/c they work for me. That said, I have no doubt that the parts in my build would easily go along with high-end optics.

Shit, I didn't see bolt-gun.........don't have one..........until Aero releases theirs

I’ll add my opinion on this. My hunting rifles have either Nikon or Vortex 3-9x40, all under $140, work just fine. One has a Leupold, 3-9x40, it was $180. Yes the Leupold is very clear, and I like it. But every one of them has done me well. Hunting in the mountains of southwest Virginia you may get a 150 yard shot in the woods, maybe 300 yards if your hunting a hay field. I think it all comes down to what you’re doing with the gun. Bench shooting to 1000 yards, yes, high dollar optics. Hunting in the woods/mountains where shots will be under 300 yards, whatever holds a zero and doesn’t fog up.

Ain’t it great to be American? We can pick what we want! Boring this world would be if we all liked the same shit. Guns are like trucks, knives, beers, watches, etc.

If you are wanting to set up a precision rifle then yep that would justify the exspense. Especially if you are competing. To me, it depends on application of use and purpose. Hell I have a old Knight Wolverine I put a $26 Bushnell 4x on 20 some years ago, I had little kids it was all I could afford, and it's always been true and held it's zero. Leupold optics on hunting bolt rifles and never an issue and they are not super high dollar optics hell I think they're all like Varix II's or something. None of these are for, as you described, a precision basis but function perfectly well for my needs.
