Smithsonian? I thought it ended at the Washington Monument? Also, I haven't seen a highway 50 road sign any farther west than Sacramento. I've driven the loneliest road more than a few times also, but never father east than the Missouri border. Folks nowadays wouldn't know how to navigate that route without a GPS. My trips were always done with a large Walmart Atlas. One place in Kansas, I got airborne over a set of railroad tracks, that was fun! Not sure now, that might have been a side trip, but I'm thinking it was on I 50.

I hope your new man cave is everything you expect! We built a garage a couple of years ago, the first garage I have ever had. Speaking of which, I hung a shelf in the garage yesterday. It's a little bit of overkill but it's 20 inches deep and still leaves the floor open underneath, so I decided it was worth the cost and effort.

Today I went out to the garage and found this. How does it happen so fast?!?

I never throw away an old blanket. I keep them in the vehicles for cold weather emergencies, hail protection. I use the doors to hold the corners down. I've slept overnight in hospital parking lots. Glad to have a blanket. Security makes a pass every 30 min., never knew I was there, or didn't care.

Well, you guys almost lost me yesterday! This is one of those you had to be there.
I was at a customer's home picking up a dead SxS. I've been there many times before and there's the husband, wife and young daughter.

I called him, he said he wasn't home just take it. Good all fine and dandy.

I arrived positioned the trailer. Grabbed the jump pack squatted down on the passenger side front wheel to gain access to the battery.

There was a little wind. Well it turns out that what I thought were leaves blowing across the concrete was in fact the nails of a rottweiler!!! He or she put her face right by the left side of my face. I saw something and I swear I almost died!

Talk about jump starting your heart.:)

The dog was as friendly as could be...I opened the driver's side door to get in and the monster hops in and sits in the passenger seat!

Finally I got him/her out and I'm strapping down the machine down and the dog is rubbing against me making it hard to do what I had to do.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals!

My shelves and counters look just like that all the time, Tom! The garage is still a perpetual state of "have to move this, to clean that", or make some more space. At least I still know where every thing is......supposed to be!

Took some time to make a mod to the stand for the new TV in the DR. You can't just buy them based on leg spacing! So, when I put it in, I just happened to have a scrap piece of 1/4" birch ply that worked. So yesterday, got a piece of thin steel, and got to work. Still needs a tweak, but my work is so stealthy that someone never noticed it.

    Holy Crap.
Years ago I had a van to do some maintenance on.
Grabbed the keys and jumped in.
    Started the van.
And then my life flashed before my eyes.
A humongous head appeared and landed on my shoulder.
    Breathing hard and drooling.
    I think I aged like 10 years.
Then it licked the whole side of my face.
    It was a Bull Mastiff…
    I couldn’t move.
After a min he went out back and laid down.
There wasn’t a mean bone in his body.
I couldn’t function for a min or two.
    Then I got pissed.
To this day I always looked in the back of a vehicle I worked on.

RT 50 will get you close to the Smithsonian. If you take 50 all the way to Ocean City MD let me know. In my younger years I could probably throw a rock from my front yard on to 50.

Wife chimed in yesterday on a pavilion in the back yard. She would rather spend a little more on a retractable awning. I can live with that!

Glad to see her out at the range.

One of my neighbors had someone trying to pry her screen off at night. Not nice to scare 85-year-old ladies that way, but she got out her .38 and let off three rounds! Martha was never to be messed with, and another neighbor asked why she had a .38. Her reply was to the point, "that .50 Desert Eagle too heavy for me these days, need something a little lighter!"

Don't mess with women in Texas.

Rotties are just big lap dogs, they've been breed to reduce the aggression...so you end up with a 140lb snuggle bunny

Or Great Great Great Grandma's in NC.
Mimi was 91, couldn't hear worth a hill of beans and lived in this huge multi-generation house by herself. Went up with the baby on Mothers Day, first time seeing her great-great-great Grandson. We knocked and yelled for a good 10 minutes, windows were open so my Marine ex decided to climb through an open window from the porch.
He slowly backed out yelling "Mimi! It's me!". Darn near had a heart attack seeing the barrel of a shotgun pointed at his head thinking I could be a widow any minute!
Her response "I was busy typing a letter to the President (of the USA) and didn't hear anything but I sure saw someone climbing in the window!"

Tweak. Move in the wings, and give it a center brace.

All better. No sag. And no, she never noticed it yesterday.

The more I look at that, the more I think "garage sales are going to start soon and I know I'll find the parts I would need for something like that for the 5th wheel".

I'm that person that would notice...which drove my son sorta nuts until he went off to live out of the house...with 4 other guys in a small, older 2 story 5 bedroom barely 2 bath house.
It was then when he understood why I would say "payback" when he was growing up (and now he has a daughter who is going to turn 8 next month so I just laugh and laugh)

    a'hem :spy:
