Central A/C and natural gas for heat. I keep the house at 70° during the summer and 65° during the winter

 

Here's one that I could buy without any down payment and still avoid mortgage insurance! I could finance this place for 15 years rather than 30, and probably have it paid off in like six years!

 

Northern Illinois sucks. Southern Illinois is better imo

 

Which side is Chicago on? Definitely wouldn't want to live there!

 

Chicago is north. Basically Springfield and up is Northern Illinois. Everything below Springfield is southern Illinois

 

I would never want to live in Illinois as a senior citizen, but once you hit a certain age you have to take a road test every time you renew your driver's license; Once you turn 85 or 87, you have to renew your license every year! BULLSHIT!

My late grandpa was driving since he was literally a kid and stopped driving at 86 years due to health problems; He gave up license in 2010, and in the last fifty years prior to that, he had been pulled over for speeding once and gotten out of the ticket, and never been in an accident.

 

I personally think the old people around here need to take driving tests every 6 months. The way most of them drive is sketchy as hell and I don't know how many accidents I've seen them cause

Edit: I would say when they hit 70-75 years is when they should do that

 

By the time I'm that old, vehicles should be totally autonomous, so it'll be a moot point!

 

Or the apocalypse will finally happen

Yep I had one replaced and bought one that had it replaced

 

@shakerhood paid less than that for his 2-bedroom house with central A/C in Ohio a few years ago!

Dual-zone central A/C in a house that was built in 2016 ain't all it's cracked up to be, either; My parents' house has two separate systems for upstairs and downstairs, and my room is not comfortable to sleep in during the summer unless the thermostat is set to 67 degrees or lower. Luckily, my friend moved to Florida and gave me his year-old $500 portable A/C for free, so temperature unevenness is no longer a problem!

 

I'd buy it, then live in the closet until I could afford to tear it down and build something bigger!

A few years ago l remember reading an article about a lady in her 90s renting an RV and taking a road trip, lol.

 

I would not mind taking a little unit like that to the garage!
