    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

I'm scheduled for a Power Red blood donation today. Great way to start the thing formerly known as The Weekend.

Wow. Very nice! Haha. I used to give blood when I worked - thanks to the Bloodmobile. Need to seek out a site in my area.

Well all I did was screen soil - all day yesterday - for the beds around the house (we added a 36" curvy concrete sidewalk all the way around the house) so we have a varying dirt space between. Slow back breaking work, but the soil is great when all the stones, construction debris, a few kid toys, a penny, a piece of mica the size of a grape, a spoon, a fork, a butter knife (none match), etc......I built a stand alone grid screener out of scrap lumber from the concrete forms, but now the wire welds in the purchased 1/2" mesh are failing (holes and strands sticking up)with so much use. Double ugg. Almost there.

Looks clear today. Fire the mower up! Till! Build more raised beds. I love it

I donate two or three times a year. Strange how I physically feel better after I donate. Like more energy type thing for the first day then back to normal.

    Morning all:

    My you guys are busy!

 Sue, did the big day arrive yet?

:annoyed: After the spring air up of all the tires I looked at the TPMS readout on the truck, and they were all showing about 8 lbs. less than what the air gauge had read, WTH! Used another air gauge and it was showing about the same as the TPMS readout, looks like the gauge I was using may have taken a chit, if so I need to check all those tires again!

Funny how the Mear mention of puppies and poof there you are. Good Morning Susan, have a wonderful day.

WTG Colonel!! The gift of life is always good to give. I will be able to donate again in two weeks. I donate at the Anne Arundel Blood Center because the donated blood stays in the local area.

Alright ladies and gents, let's get those errands done today because tomorrow is Saturday and not a good day to run errands. Taking the wife out to a birthday lunch today!

Had the summer tires put on the Tacoma yesterday. I have to save up for new tires and shocks in the fall.

Happy Birthday to your wife, Tom!!

I am thrilled that they finally changed the donor restrictions so that I can give again - used to give every 2 months until the Mad Cow scare blocked those of us who were assigned to Germany during those years. Now the restriction is more limited to the UK/France. Since I do the Power Red I can only give every 160 days or so...but I'll keep signing up. My O+ goes almost anywhere. They use it locally unless there is an urgent need elsewhere and I'm OK with that.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Peoples! Went to the Dr. to see if I can head off this "slightly anemic" thing they said about my last labs. Not believing it at all back in January, but something isn't right, and I don't want to wait 2 more months for more tests. So, focused test yesterday, and we'll see.
First up - fix the dryer. Parts came faster than I thought they would, so let's get it done, and hope it's the right stuff. ApplicancePartsPros.com FTW. Parts, videos, and fast!
Think it's some thick chops tonight.
I always find out about our bloodmobile visits the day after....

I recently went through that squealing dryer gig - pain to pull the thing out of a close space at my abode. Absolutely stupid design problem - belt idler pulley has a BUSHING with no lubricant. Drum wheels have sealed anti-friction bearings - but this spot - prone to problems - has a flipping bushing. Part was cheap but why? Designed by children..........

I think it's that they don't want them lasting 30 years like they used to. We have friends who buy the LG or what-have-you models with the electronic everything, every 5 years or so. Our ancient Maytag washer crapped out a few years back, started leaving rust stains on stuff, so we went shopping. Finally found a washer/dryer pair with zero electronics but it took a while. Fingers crossed that they outlive my need for such things.

Well, just watched my repair videos, and it's pull the back of the dryer, not the front like I thought. So, since I ordered a new T fitting to help clean the vents, I'll just be putting that off until those parts show up tomorrow. Move it once, I says! Onward to other fiascos!

    It's the "Light Bulb Effect".
There is a fire station somewhere in NY that still has a bulb from the 1930's (or earlier) that has never burned out. They never turn it off and it uses a fraction of the electricity anything after it does.
Light bulb companies quickly figured out if it lasts that long, they would be out of business so they kept putting out new ones (and have done so ever since) of which all other companies took notice and followed suit.

I still get a vacuum made in Germany, leather made in Mexico/Italy/Spain, appliances like Kenmore 'old style' from Sears, Clothing from Canada (short drive across the border), etc because pride overrides profit. There is no mention that I own 3 vacuums but those were from work...bought 15 to 9 years ago that still out perform anything modern.

Maybe it's why I have only driven a Toyota truck as a Daily Driver since 1986. They are just built well and will frickin last as long as you keep them up.

    rant off

    Speedqueen washer. Not electronic.
The (non) dryer we have will last forever.

All done! I love the Power Red process - blood goes out, plasma comes back and you give 2 Units instead of one. Of course, you have to wait double the time to donate again. But, well worth 2 hours of my time including travel and cookies. :D

We've always bought used Maytags as we move from state to state, and sell them for what we paid when we move again or include them when we sell the house. When we moved here twelve years ago we went shopping for our first new washing machine set. We'd already been hearing a lot of horror stories about the new stuff so when we saw an old style (new) set of Maytags for $500 we jumped on it. No trouble in twelve years (knock on wood) and they clean our clothes just fine.

Took out the soil I stashed before the storm, swept up the trash, here's all the tools it took, the walls to stash, here is Spring! Dropped the temp from 98 to 91. This might just work!
