I ordered a Sport DCSB 6MT in mid-December and found out today production is scheduled for mid-May. Both the original sales person and the inventory manager quit their jobs since placing the order! (Maybe they got tired of fielding weekly calls from me??)

They let you make changes? I was told I can't add the LED headlights to a truck that won't be built for another two months. (I asked today if it was possible after following the headlight thread for some time.) Found out today the configuration has a couple extra things added that I hadn't specified--little stuff like splash guards, exhaust tip, etc. Order was placed in December. The poor communication has been disappointing, but at this point I'm just grateful for the opportunity to buy it with a manual!

Before I got my SR-5 I did a two state internet search. Spoke with many salesman and got a lot of different story's from them all. I think the most important thing is to know exactly what you want, Then find it in a dealers current inventory. They want to get rid of what they have, I found a high volume dealer who had exactly what I was looking for about 150 mi away. They gave me a trade price and a new price that was in writing and stayed the same. all done by E-mail. Was very happy with the whole process.

This is almost the same build I did, but I placed my order 2/26 and its ETA is 4/9 (was 3/30)

    Led is a must have

having a regular 2018 and getting led 2021, it’s the most valuable option on the truck for me

Sorry to bring up an old post but I am in the same situation. Working on buying a 2022 TRD OR Lunar Rock 6MT in East Texas. Owner of the dealership said he had to jump through some hoops to submit the request but he got it submitted. That was Feb. 4 and the request was accepted March 23 or at least I think it was based off the info he gave me. How did the situation of buying a "non-standard" config from GST work out for you?

The factory LEDs are spectacular. Toyota definitely got it right. Its so nice to not constantly have to monkey around with bulbs or shitty Amazon headlights like I did on my 2nd gen for years. 100% worth the $$ on the third gen.

GOOD LUCK IN TEXAS. I am also in Texas and wanted LR OR Premium 4wd. One was here in DFW but wanted 10k over msrp. Ended up buying out of state in Missouri. Wanted 2 months from deposit to delivery almost. Flying out next weekend to pick it up it just landed today. Call around. Every dealer I was working with here in DFW told me this last allocation they werent getting any 4x4.

Thanks for the heads up. My dealership is working on it and said they received approval for allocation but it could take a while. I don't mind waiting as long as I get what I want. TRD OR Lunar 6MT

I wouldn't put all my eggs in their basket. Until they give you a temp vin I would be calling all around looking for an allocation that some is for sure getting. Not trying to discourage you but Im still waiting on 2 dealers here in Fort Worth that said the same thing. I started calling once week to states they receive more 4wd trucks and was able to find it. Did you have to put a deposit down?

I did, 1k refundable. Which dealership are you working with in Missouri? I've also been recommended Landers Toyota in Little Rock. But not sure if they do out of state deals

Twin City Toyota. Was also talking with Eddies toyota in Kansas. THey have my exact same model coming in a week or two from now. LR Offroad Premium with tech package DCSB. The manuals are definitely out there. Check out the other thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...2-order-request-whatever-it-is-called.724431/ theres a list somewhere in there with stock numbers of trucks coming and you can see what options they have on them. I saw some LR going to houston area recently not sure what options tho.

Lol, yeah I'm watching that thread as well. And I check the kissmygrits every morning over coffee. I've called a couple dealerships with OR 6MT available (not lunar rock) but all out of state and not selling out of state. And, according to my sales guy (friend of the family and owner of the dealership) the allocation has been approved but no production date yet. Even still, he isn't very forthcoming with info. I think he prefers to keep me in the dark for whatever reason.

I have seen 5 different TRD Pros with 6MT headed to the East TX area in the past week. I'm hoping that is a good sign for manuals in the area!

I think 75% of cars on the road today are black, white, or some shade in-between. It's like living in Pleasantville... which is why I drive an Inferno.

Those who are passionate about rare colors love those colors. But the number of buyers who love those rarer colors are low.
TW is not a good sample size to determine the buying public's taste in car colors...

I think we've reached a new level here in Massachusetts. I talked to a another dealer today they want a 2k deposit to get on a list that is no guarantee.....that's up from the 1k they were asking before. Lol.

I know this is looking FAR ahead but I wonder how things will look a couple of years out from now, when I'll be in the market for a new Taco to replace my 1st-gen?

Spoke to my dealer today. The sales guy that took my order 3 weeks ago said that he did hear there is some sort of production slowdown but did not know the reason. I heard somewhere, i think on here, it was the technology package. I'm willing to wait it out right now. If no truck is allocated for me by mid May the way I ordered it I might have to be a little flexible on the color and some options. I was flexible from the get go but I figured if I'm ordering it I'd just get exactly what I wanted.
