    Nope.

You need a dedicated 8mm video tape player / camcorder.

You are thinking VHS-C (for VHS Compact). There were adapters for VHS-C tapes which were the same size as a standard VHS Tape. You'd put the VHS-C tape into the adapter, and the adapter into the VCR, and you could playback the VHS-C tape in s standard VHS machine.

The 8mm format is incompatible. It might as well be Beta...

Brand was one thing. Type was something else.

Hi-Bias and Metal tapes are no longer made. They still make (new) Type I (Normal) cassettes.
New-in-wrapper Type II (CrO2) and Type IV (Metal) cassettes command quite a price today. So if you have any lying around, you just found some good trinkets...

I wouldn't say lost forever.... But it will take some time to find an old cam-corder or player. You'll also need a way to capture the video to be able to make a digital file or burn to DVD.

Maybe you find a deal on e-Bay..

'Tis true. I've five different kilts. Wear one at every opportunity I can.

April 6th is National Tartan Day. Celebrate it with gusto!

Women wear erasaids instead of kilts.
Though modern designers do have a skirt with the look of a kilt.
There are also tartan sash, scarfs, shawls, etc. to show support.

Come on... They are the pride of the tartan!!!

Introduced by Harry Wayne Casey on the Midnight Special, nonetheless...

While it's not my thing, if you really look, it's been a thing for thousands of years, in cultures all over the world. It's really only the western world in the last 1-2 hundred years where it's become taboo.
