Hm I had ordered the exact part number from Partzilla and they let me know yesterday that it was backordered. I have no clue how specific this sort of part would be across models, as the one you linked is for different bikes. Any input on whether it would be workable, or not? Anyone can chime in

 

Surprised they're so hard to find considering how many bikes in their lineup probably use that same cable. I'd cross reference that p/n with FZ-07 and then check local moto salvage yards.

My guess is they're so reliable generally that Yamaha just never saw the need to make them in abundance. Or at least I hope lol.

they were out of stock too/backordered there, but the guy was nice enough to give me two dealerships that say they have them in stock so fingers crossed!

Yup, one of the dealers they gave me was in Canada, the other in Washington. Called the Washington one first since it's within the US...they had ONE left in stock, so i placed the order on the phone and gave them an overnight label of my own to send it quicker.

They said it probably won't go out today, but definitely Monday, so i should be back up and running hopefully by Wednesday at latest!

Holy hell this thing is cool. At first glance I thought it was a smaller scale, based off a 125cc or something, but nope, full sized 650 thumper in there 21" rear/17" front.

Sold my '02 F4i almost 4 years ago. Guy showed up, asked if he could test ride, handed me an envelope of cash. Came back with a big smile, asked for the title. Paid my asking price, didn't bat an eye. Bike had 57k on the clock and was clean. They are damned solid bikes. Over the years, the only issues other than regular maintenance were the CCT and the voltage regulator.

Many sportbikes with that many miles are usually pretty thrashed. You can tell, though, when they are.

 

I know the guy who built that, and the guy who painted the tank used to be my roommate. We've kinda drifted apart lately.

But Sean's shop is really cool. Its just his 2 car garage next to his house.
