Does the summit bumper come factory with the bars that come off to the side of the truck? I don’t prefer those. I’m getting the ARB bumper installed in a few months on my Tacoma ‘20 and just want the bumper and not the side bars....

Slee off road mentioned they installed this bumper on a ‘21 and had no issues. So I trust them. But am curious if there has been an updated version specifically for the 20+ years Tacoma’s....

Also, isn’t there a way to access the accessory mounts with the new summit bumper? So adding lights would be easier on this version of the bumper?

    thanks

    microsnook,
Did you have any problems with the arb bumper?

I have no issues with the bumper. It was installed at Slee Off Road near Denver. They did a fantastic job.

Thanks for the reply. I loved my ARB on my second gen. Maybe eventually I'll get one. I'll have to complete the truck payment mod first!

Since this thread was necromanced: I also have no issues with TSS and my summit bumper. However it’s worth noting that the ever popular pro grille will NOT work with this bumper because of the sensor being relocated lower. It ends up sitting partially below the top of the bumper which obscures the radar.

Yes, this is correct. I wanted to go with the pro grille and after some chatting and researching, it seemed that it would be mounted too low or high, I forget which and would not work.

Reviving an old thread, I have the ARB bumper and have the same issues with the pro grille and the sensor being too low. It goes in and out and I deal with the light when it comes on the dash by ignoring it when it's on. Cruise will still work when the precollision sensor warning is off just not the adaptive part of it. I can verify that you can disable the radar system in the truck by plugging into the computer but you will still have the yellow light at the bottom on the dash. Just don't hit the button to turn it on otherwise it reverts back to factory settings and errors.

One thing that I did see somewhere is that some off the off-road features may be affected because of the sensor fault??? and may not allow you to engage crawl control and what not. I haven't had a chance to verify but was curious if anyone can bring any light to that. That is the one thing that would suck.

Just ditch the pro grill and get one with the sensor mounted higher?

Most likely will or may change the front bumper out for a different style later on. I have the top of the winch poking up and two bajalights mounted on the front bumper too so that does help lol.

Oh dang! No wonder that sensor is pissed lol
I have been meaning to swap the squadrons in my fogs for something SAE compatible. Looking at the holes on the bumper between the uprights, I’ve been wondering if I could even mount the squadrons there without interfering with the big oval…
So far my plan is to put them in the spots on top of the uprights, like Mickey Mouse ears:rofl:
