I too just got that saw, in my case to complent my Makita magnesium worm drive plug in. I really like the rear handle but also dislike the dust, it is pretty bad. Adding the vacuum attachment helped but it does clog sometimes. Reading up on this indicates there is a consensus that the exhaust port is an issue.

Overall I do like the saw however.

Oh there will be some mods all right
That's a good thing! Otherwise there's a good chance I'd be spending money that I don't need to spend!

:tumbleweed: Waiting for Monday Home Depo tool deals. I should probably cash in on the buy more save more. I shot myself in the foot and bought the M12 Fuel multitool last weekend to trim door jams for a buddy while helping put his flooring in. It’s part of the buy more but didn’t have the spare cash to combo it up on a whim. It killed my soul paying full nut.

#4 bar? How fast? Did you cut half way and snap them?

That’s a good little saw. I’ve used it at work plenty. Used that circular saw and the milwawaukee recipro saw to cut an entire shed into small pieces (to fit in a dumpster) this week and it took less than an hour :sawzall:

The belt clip on the red tools is a bit wide to fit in tool loops so I tried a Toughbuilt Cliptech small holster for the m18 surge but that was way off balance. Just ordered the Spider holster system to try as that looks pretty sweet and seems like it would balance well with m18 drivers and maybe a hackzall somehow if lucky. The Spider system has good reviews but notably a lot of online comments are not favorable toward the stock red belt clip design.

Anybody have a preferred clip setup for m18 drivers?

Not slow. Not as fast as a cut-off saw or 6 ft lopper, but more than adequate. Cut 75% and easy break-off. Just let the blade cut, can't force it.

My bolt cutters are not big enough and better than a hack saw or recipro (second choice).

Used the M18 chainsaw to cut down this tree blocking the lake view. It adequately, I do like the 12” Oregon bar and chain for this saw, and miss my Ms290.

You have the 16” or the 14”? I see they have a 14” now not sure how that compares from the factory to your Oregon bar conversion

Yes I started with the 16” and the 0.043 just doesn’t cut enough width for what I’m used to so I went with this more aggressive cut 0.050 gauge, and shortened the length to 12”.
