Oh yeah, in those "life goes on things", three weeks after the Fireplace people told me that my Insert and parts had arrived, and an installer would contact me (no, they didn't give me a number, of course), I heard from them last night! Exchanged my photos for info, and will get the quote that was in the ballpark - including a delivery charge, naturally. And we'll be all set for the install...

Now you’re talking! The older washers, top loaders with the agitator do the job they are intended to do. Yes, timers go out, solenoid valves wear out, agitator dogs wear out, but they are all replaceable by the average homeowner, particularly these days with the help of YouTube. If you have a computer and a screwdriver, you can impress the wife with your skill level. Not that I’m cheap (although maybe I am), the thing is, the new machines are junk from day one. They don’t wash clean, and they take twice as long to do even that.

    Good Morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

I'm waiting to get the final weather call for a hot air balloon flight this morning. We'll be flying the single-person Hopper just to get our main pilot's flight in for March.

    Stay safe out there.

Looks like we had a small amount of hail last night. Pea size, and really not very much. 31°, cold enough that it hasn't melted yet this morning. Hope that's the end of it. The storm is basically Columbus OH to Cincinnati, moving due East.

Sometimes it seems that the manufacturers design crap intentionally because people have this strange urge to brag about how much they spent on the newest gadget, and then when it doesn't perform well they commiserate with each other in a bonding moment over how they were all taken advantage of by those manufacturers... all while going out to find the next most expensive product so they can brag about how much they spent.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Going to make upper 80's today! Got a quick errand to run before I move the dryer for repair, then back outside to work on the greenhouse again. Bleach another batch of pots too. Amazing what will fill a day sometimes. Have a great Saturday!

Is that a Miele vacuum? We bought one about 10 years ago when finally admitted that our antique Electrolux was doing a terrible job. The Miele is an awful lot of plastic, but it has held up well and it does a stupendous job.

I think Kenmore and quite a few other brands are all made by the same company now, Whirlpool.

That's what we got. Still independent, made in USA too.

:pccoffee:  We had some fun yesterday. I finally got tired of having to carefully arrange the pliers in the plier drawer so that it would close all the way, and bought a larger toolbox bottom section to replace my genuine antique Sears unit. (That will move into the house -- it still works great.) The Home Depot guys had a nifty jack to get it into the Taco bed, but I was scratching my head over how to get it out -- 250 lbs. is a bit too much for us to muscle off! I thought about taking all the drawers out but then a light bulb lit in my dim old brain. We backed the truck in until it was under the electric hoist I installed in the attic, strapped the box to it, and gently lifted it off the bed. Drove the truck out, dropped to the floor. Presto.

Nothing like a post-donation beer (at home, don't drive anyplace!)

Seriously a huge thank you to everyone who donates. My wife has gotten over 12 pints of whole blood (one or two at a time) during all her colon surgeries. Just know you made a huge difference in someone's life.

I got my e-motor on one of my Catrike (recumbent three-wheel). My knee has been painful, so haven't been riding but had to go try out the motor assist. I just had a crazy grin after going for a ride around the block. Still worked up a good sweat as I was pushing 120 rpm (feet spinning like crazy) to hit 28 mph at the end of an uphill stretch. My unassisted speed record was 20 mph but felt so effortless. HR was at 160 so good workouts but just grinning like crazy.

I plan to play with adjusting levels, as I'd like the electric motor to drop above 12 mph. I have an 18-pound weight penalty, but once at speed makes little difference.

For pliers in my toolbox, I used these things from a company in Sandy, Oregon. Ernst Manufacturing still making them in the USA.
    https://www.ernstmfg.com/5501-10-tool-plier-pro-green/black.aspx

Mine is high vis yellow, but give you the idea.

Yep and Yep. Miele is all I've used since 1999 when I bought my first one, which I still have though it's heavier. Still works as the vehicle/shop vac. The only vac to pass the sunlight test.

Whirlpool bought out Kenmore but they are at the same plants unless that changed the last couple of years which is why they still last longer than most owners.

Weather is mild, pollen is super high, I'm feeling it and just don't feel like doing much of anything today. We'll see, all the vehicles need a good cleaning inside and out :)
