Are you good with a wrench?

If so, just change the plugs, oil and filters, that's all the dealer will do.

The plugs, if you can do it yourself, will cost $25.

Never go to the stealership for service unless you like being anally raped.

and this is about right. You'd be paying $636 for an oil change and new spark plugs.

Don't forget to change your rear differential and if you you have 4x4 then add front differential and transfercase oils.

really you have to switch out your differential at 30k? I'd have thought they'd last longer.

son uf a gun, yup, its now at 144 months or 120k. Pretty sure my paper manual says a lot shorter. but toyota's web site is saying otherwise (in a different document mind you).

I don't think the plugs are part of that service. They check your trans, differ., brakes, charging system ,a/c ........................all miner crap to get your money. When work for Toyota we love to services come thru the door ...easy money

Haha that's funny. My wife went to the stealership in the FJ yesterday and they tried to sell her the 30k mile service for $572.

    It consisted of:
    Fuel treatment
    Spark plugs
    Air filter
    Cabin air filter

and visual inspections of everything else.

Shouldn't you grease the drive shaft and pilot shaft regardless of drivetrain. You'll just have half the work in one. Unless they're ungreasable.

I know that the pre-runner drive shaft is not grease able and the 4x4's are.

You get more than plugs, oil and filters. They look at stuff too. Well worth it for people who can't look at stuff.
