What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got my (Rock lights) "Courtesy Lights" working tonight.
Works with the Dome light to turn on as you approach the truck.

Finally the weather was just right so I got out yesterday and installed Diode Dynamics fogs and PRO style grille. Was a good time to remove the air dam too.

 

Nice. Where you get the grill from? I’ve been trying to decide on a vendor to get it from. Tacoma Beast looking like maybe the one with their military discount.

I went through the splash guards after removing the tires...hardest part was getting them lined up with the bezel. Take your time and you'll get 'em in. You're gonna love the difference.

 

Awesome, thanks again for the info. I already have everything too. Was thinking of using the LED strips slightly differently and attaching them to the under side of my RTT so the light is thrown down into the bed and onto the ground under the ladder. I really don't want to put any screws into my tent though. The strips I got have 3M adhesive but I worry about that holding up long term.

So I have some more thinking to do...haha.

Did you find that once they are lined up with the bezel, they are also pointed at the right level/direction?

 

You'll probably have to tweak them a bit. The instructions on aiming them are included.

Run into any weird issues after completely disconnecting power from the truck? I’m still running my original 2016 battery and I’m thinking about proactively replacing it before it leaves me stranded somewhere inconvenient.

 

Update: It did not interfere with the cruise control sensor.

 

That might be cool to do. Years back I had my stock Fatboy wheels machined and chromed. They used the existing holes and extended the opening to more like a teardrop them dipped them. Turned out great and gave the bike a better look.

I can understand that. Sold that one a few years back and couldn't stand it so I got a 2016 SGS a few months back with only 4200 miles. Loving it.

 

Wow, Now I’m really to do this one. I do not want to chrome them but I might end up removing the powder coat. I’ve got to keep the center caps in mind though.

 

I surely didn't expect you to want to chrome them. I almost mentioned that in the first post. It's different for a bike though. You could machine and then have all kinds of options for coatings if so desired.

 

Yeah…. I think I just assumed about the chrome. I considered not having them coated at all, but I’m sure I would get a lot of flack for that one. But I don’t live in the salt zone/squad whatever. We will see how this plays out, people like to charge a lot of money for little things like this around here. The quote I got for painting a camper shell was ridiculous. I understand they are professionals and all and it’s their trade but sheesh.

 

I agree that could be way overpriced. Keep us posted on the progress as this could be a great mod.
