New member of the AT family! Drove 3600 miles round-trip to have it installed in Prescott. Spent some quality time with my daughter and we checked-out some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen! Thanks to everyone at AT for making the entire process seamless!

I'm looking for the serial number on my habitat. It's for insurance purposes. Anybody know where to find it? I've got it deloyed and I'm looking all over for it with no luck.

There’s a tag/plate on the passenger outside near the front. I don’t think it has a serial though.

for my insurance I just gave them the invoice for when I bought it.

I asked Janine about this specifically and she said they do not have serial numbers. The invoice number or build number is what you will need to provide.

State Farm needs a copy of my invoice so they can add it's value to my current truck policy.

    Hey TW,

I've been in the market for an AT Habitat for years now but finally have the funds to pull it off, at least the funds for a used one. There's one selling in San Diego, CA (he's possibly even a member here) but San Diego happens to be 1000+ miles away from me one direction. In today's gas prices, a round trip is pushing a grand in gas money alone. I could do a turn and burn but I'd hate to spend a grand on that without any fun in between. Plus...I'm not flush with time until May of this year so was thinking about shipping, but have no idea where to even start. Has anyone shipped a camper recently? Can anyone think of any ideas? I'm 45 minutes east of Portland (Hood River area).

Thanks in advance for your responses.

HD canvas might be a lil sus. I had that on the original habitat from 2016, and it was leaky. I ended up selling it and moving onto an Atlas so I wouldn't have to deal w/ that.

If rain is a concern, I'd avoid Habitats in general because you have to seam seal everything. They use seal tape on the newer thin habitat fabric, but not so sure about the HD green. Plus that HD green is probably a lot harder to close.

I had a few small drips in mine the first outing but that was also like a monsoon so I think anything would have had some issue.

after that trip, I’ve not had any problems and been in the rain quite a few times.

Differing opinions here but good points nonetheless. At the end of the day, I don't have the funds for a new one. I'll see if it is indeed a problem soon enough. I like canvas (spent nearly 10 years working for a custom canvas shop) and have some old and new techniques to improving its weather resistance. If those techniques don't work adequately in this application, I'll start saving up for the new gen tent body.

As for the matter of getting it to me, anyone have any good ideas? AT Overland is being super helpful but definitely interested in broadening the feelers if anyone has experience with shipping an item like this. Thanks.

By heavy canvas are they talking about the early green tent or actual canvas?

Also for shipping. Call AT directly and see how they ship to their dealerships.

Heavy Canvas should be the 1st gen 2016 and some 2017 models. That was phased out for the thinner "original" designed canvas (pre-production) which is gray instead of olive.

The Heavy Canvas in the 1st gen didn't have seam tape sewn in and it would leak through the threads to varying degrees. Seam sealant was given to owners to seal on their own. Once the tent was seam sealed and the fabric stretched with rain, it would be able to stop most if not all leaks from rain alone.

Condensation was another issue though, but due to the large size on the inside, it wasn't a big deal for a single person staying in there for sleep only. But more of an issue if there was an extended stay inside w/ the tent open and/or more people inside.

The gray fabric was seam taped at manufacture and only needed water sprayed on top to stretch it out. At least according to AT.

I was confused, sorry. I also had one of the green tents as well, but was just thicker rip-stop not an actual canvas.

Mine developed holes the first day due to the perfect storm of bows/sleeping platform/edges. We had 17 nights in it when it was replaced under warranty by AT.

Even with the seam sealing of the gray tent, we still get leaks under heavy (torrential downpours) rain. The lighter tent is WAY more comfortable in the sun, that green got HOT.

When sleeping in the habitat, how much does the whole truck move around? I toss around at night and I have concerns about the whole topper and truck moving around and feeling odd.

I put a stabilizer jack under the hitch receiver of mine before folding out the habitat. Without that, it’ll definitely move around a bit, especially if you are out on the overhang

I know this won't work when the tent is deployed, but has anyone attached solar panels to the Habitat top? I have a auxiliary battery system and is currently charged by a solar panel on my DCU cap.

Took ANOTHER 3000+ mile trip in the 3 months I've had my Summit. This time went to Rocky MTN NP, Dinosaur NM, and Arches NP. The camper performed flawlessly and I slept very well. Once it's popped-open I was answering questions at every campground! Think I even sold one to a guy who spent the better part of two days checking it out. BedRug and some interior drawers are next on the list!IMG_20220627_170557172.jpg

Green River Campground- spent two nights there. One day geeking-out over dinosaur bones and petroglyphs, the second hiking and soaking in the Green River. You're right- it's a really underrated place and a highlight of my entire trip!

Hi, I am looking into buying an AT overland topper.

I was planning on getting L track installed on the roof (no hatches or fans).

Does anyone know if this allows you to install a Prinsu roof rack or similar? If so, is there a particular adaper kit required?

Thanks. I'll likely have other questions as I plan this out.
