depending on the weight you should be fine, depending on your tow vehicle. Whatcha gonna be towing with?

Here for reference is a similar trailer other than deck material, twin 3500lb axles. total loaded weight at the scrapper was 10,350lb and empty was 6,800lb. that's truck and trailer so around 3500lb of weight on the trailer. no trailer brakes but that was my only complaint.

Also its sooooo good to be back, got hit with a 30 day ban outta nowhere lol. Here are those front Duraflex fenders installed. my headlight refuses to not sit funny so guess the grill will not be going on ever.

Looking like I'm gonna get this. $1500 for the trailer, $750 to have it towed up to Denver from Dallas. Should have it early April

Gonna tow it with the Taco. Current plan is to reinstall the 3rd leaf I removed from the pack of OME Dakar Mediums, last summer. Then add the hammer hangers with crossbar. Hopefully that should do it.

Gotcha. I am running the dakar heavy leafs (el112r) and gonna run airbags for leveling once my black tacoma is running again. Planning to tow one with the other. You might sag a little with just the medium leafs so I'd look into airbags potentially

I do have an airbag setup that the previous owner installed. but the bags were leaking so I took them off. Sitting in storage. I'm looking into the weight distribution hitches, and will go from there. I don't keep any weight in the bed other than when I'll be towing. But ya, have a feeling heavier leafs, and maybe getting new bags will be needed depending on how much I end up towing.

Edit: what's the best (cheaper) stuff to respray the trailer with? The paint is really the only thing wrong with it. Plan on hitting it with the pressure washer, then some sort of...rattle can? I think my friend has an air sprayer I could borrow

I used a small roller and an oil based enamel paint when I built a trailer. Has held up better than a couple coats of rattle can.

If the trailer is actually 2200, and the jeep is 5500, you would be 700lbs over weight.

Tacomas have a max towing capacity of 6,500 from what I can see, so also over weight.

Buy it, clean it up and sell it at a profit, then buy a lighter one.

Most tacomas are not 6500 max towing more like 5000ish. That jeep isn't even close to 5500 lbs mine is a lot more built and doesn't even hit 5000. He's still going to be over on the max towing capacity. I tow my jeep with the tacoma on a regular basis loaded with gear I'm over the max too. Is it horrible no, should people do it probably not, can you do it if you drive smart and know what you're doing sure.

Ya the Jeep XJ's are stock 3500 lbs, that jeep probably closer to 4200. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to end up with that paticular XJ. I met up with him and his mechanic friend tonight. Super cool, and honest people. Both the engine and transmission got toasted shortly after he posted it for sale. I thought I could work out a deal, but it wouldn't be financially reasonable at this point. big frowny face...

I'm still getting the trailer, though. Always wanted one and I may flip some craigslist cars. I'm going to take the trailer to a weigh station to get the right weigh. I'm guessing it's sub 2k lbs. But it is a stout trailer with tool box and spare tire mounted. It should arrive by end of next weekend.

Before blown engine/trans $8.5k. He's got a couple of other people interested but I'm still first in line. Told him I'll let him know by end of weekend. To be fair, both him and his friend suggestion to do just that, getting a used engine/trans. And I was contemplating that if his friend would be able to help me rebuild it. But he's too busy atm. He does have a ton of money in suspension, armour, lockers, gears, ext. it's basically a fully built XJ... What would you offer for it as is? $7k? i don't want to low ball the guy but I also didn't want a project straight off.

I would offer like 4-5k if not less than that. For reference I paid 6500 for my XJ and trailer as a combo here is what my XJ came with. I got it from a buddy but it would of been in the 9ish range with trailer to anyone else. Without a working eng and transmission it's kinda just a bunch of used parts some of which are not worth much to begin with. Like that front axle sure it's got a truss and chromoloy axles but it's still a HP D30. The ford 9 is a nice upgrade but I would of replaced the front before the rear, that CH8.25 is a pretty damn good axle to begin with. Not sure what the market is out there for you but around here we can get stuff for decent deals

Body pretty beat no major rust it was a wheeler.
    Custom front bumper/winch mount
    37" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers
Dynatrac ProRock 44 WJ outers, RCV Axles, Detroit locker, 4.56 gears
Iron Rock front old school y-link/3link suspension
    1 ton steering
    PSC hydraulic assist steering
    PSC steering box
    Unibody stiffners
    2x6 rockers
    rear quarter panel armor
    Ironrock offroad rear triangulated 4link
Ford 8.8, spool, 4.56 gears chromoly axles, c-clip eliminator, trussed
    Fuel cell
    interior cage
converted front doors to be removeable
    tube doors
    spare driveshafts
    spare shocks
lots of misc parts to install/spares

He lowered his price to $6k as is. But after a long think, not sure I want the added price/time of doing the engine replacement. I think I've shifted my search to a JK. Got a few Rubicons bookmarked on copart.com, a junkyard auction site. Need to see how much they're going for. I only have a basic membership, not a licensed dealer, so it limits me to like 1/3 the inventory

If you're going Junk Yard do you need the back seat if not look at TJs and LJs or the 2 door JKs. Only thing with the JKs I don't like is the 3.8 minivan motor and then the later 3.6 which will pull a smoke show and possibly kaboom like the 3.5 in the 3rd gens. Wrecked ones you could run into some pretty major issues including engine and trans.

My old neighbor has an LJ and yes it makes an awesome 2 seat mini truck but wouldn't want to sit behind the front seats. He took his out a long time ago if they were even in there when he bought them.
