    Yup.
1- I have no desire to "replace" him or start again.
2- I've put down too many pets over the last decade.
3- Once you don't have a pet for a while you realize, yeah, its a PITA

*Also I'll never have kids, so I may be an outlier here

I dunno if this is sarcasm, but I still remember the ONE time in 5 years we had crazy storms in SoCal while I lived there, the manhole covers on the street out front blew off one by one.

Im in the opposite boat. Ive always had great dogs and this last one was a rescue bull terrier who was 11 months and I couldn't train him to listen properly and he has caused me hell for the past 10 years. Totally ruined the dog thing for me.

And it isn't a bad thing. It's a good thing to know yourself to that degree. I've had friends who only realized that after a point of no return.

You can even do it to annuals. Just have to bring back the original pot, receipt, and dead plant

I just never thought about having kids. I have friends who are great dads, but they knew that they wanted 'em even when we were in our early 20s, which is great. And other friends who just went along for the societal ride and domestic demands then freaked out later. Its a big thing to think about for every guy I think, but its going to be a life issue one way or another, even if its just deciding against it.
