I was able to find a sequence to program a key in my land cruiser. The key guy couldn’t get it to work, but I tried a few times and eventually got it. Not sure if the Tacomas have a similar option.

edit: just did a quick google search- https://carkeysexpress.com/store/manual/Toyota/Tacoma/2013/1005359-the-universal-car-remote

ive done a something like that with my wifes 04 4runner and worked great twice. i never had any luck with my 13 tacoma. i did have a key made at local locksmith when i got the truck.... but they closed up shop a few years ago. im still gonna give that procedure a shot. i can get the key cut anywere, its the programming that nobody does anymore.
    thanks

does the dealership offer this service? I’m
Guessing they rake you over the coals. What I did on my taco is leave a stock key taped under the steering column and use a “dumb key” that I can take to lowes and copy for $2 for everything. Stupid technology and their costly BS annoys me.

Ah damn. Yea I think the key guy did that part on a tablet now that you mention it..

yea I’m sure they probably won’t want to touch it. The guy I used does the keys for all the local dealerships. Drives a van with all the tools and key blanks. Maybe try searching mobile car key cutting or something like that.

I just checked the procedure, it seems fairly straight forward, so... If you plan on venturing up to NY (or NNJ), hit me up and we'll work it out.

ill give the local stealership a call to see if they can/will do it. it would be a 3rd key but i want to try one piece key/fob for less pocket bulk.

Was that horse back rider livid seeing you guys? Especially since there is no legal wheeling up there?
