Has anyone gone from Kdmax 6.0 to OTT 7.0? I want to hear your review.

I really like the smoothness of kdmax 6.0, and love that it makes my taco feel light. I had also tried Kdmax pro (drove it for a few weeks) when it came out, but I did not like it. I felt like it wasn't as smooth as 6.0, and I felt my truck a bit heavy again. So I went back to 6.0, and I have been on 6.0 since June 2021. I have been hearing good things about OTT 7.0, and was wondering if it is as smooth as kdmax 6.0 with a little extra power? Will my truck still feel light?

The only issue I have with 6.0 is going up a hill at slow speeds, I almost feel like my taco is going to stall. Prior to getting my taco, I used to drive the Lexus ES350, which has the same engine as the taco, and I would always think why doesn't Toyota tune the taco to make it feel like the ES350, and I think kdmax 6.0 so far is the closest to how the ES350 rides.

Did you tune your own truck or work with a tuner? If you worked with a tuner, where are you located? If the tuner offers OTT I’d bet they’d let you test it and they can likely put you back to KD6.0 if you don’t like it.

I have moved many people from KD6.0, 7.0 and Pro to OTT7.0 and all have no desire to go back.

Yes, I work with a tuner who is great. When I did not like Kdmax pro, he tuned me back to 6.0 with no questions asked. I just want to get the feel from others that went from 6.0 to OTT7.0. Thanks for letting me know that your customers have been happy with OTT7.0. It looks promising.

I have the KDMax pro right now and have also been looking at the OTT. I just wish i knew exactly what the difference is. I don't think there are any OTT and KDMAx tuners in my area (Torrance, Ca) to let me try before committing.

They are two very different tunes in my opinion. Kdmax does that that “lighter” feel to it with a snappy response and good top end. It’s a very good tune that I ran for almost 2k miles and was more or less happy with it. However even on the wife tip setting I experienced some stuff that I was not a fan of with the tip in and some odd low end surges I couldn’t get rid of which ultimately helped me decided to make the switch to OTT. The tip in of OTT for me at least and the torque curve from 2-5k I really like. It’s not as snappy by design which is what I wanted. It is however very smooth through the entire range and pulls very well off the bottom. Both are good tunes but I think it boils down to your driving style at the end of the day. Your tuner likely has both of them and I’m sure if you wanted to try it they could help you out.
