From what I've seen through Instagram SP will be working on some assortment of bags specific to the campers, obviously others would work but its cool to see them make more accessories.

I've got one of these. Works great. Expensive, but super high quality. They're made by hand by one dude, and he's local to where I live, so I justified it as supporting local business :) He runs sales every once in a while. https://vrnclrsewnstorage.com/collections/camper-and-tent-products/products/the-top-shelf

My buddy just got some of his bags for his GFC V1. Very Very nice bags.
Worth it. Same as my ATC bags. Hand sewn Cordura or waxed canvas.

Ordered one of these with an extra panel for the side. I like this. Maybe longer to set up than a traditional awning, but, i can move it anywhere i want to. Sure, a plastic tarp would do the same, but those would be noisy, and this is 100 percent made in the USA.

AND, after my 5th fucking surgery, my doc said he doesnt have an issue with me driving to Seattle to get my camper, finally.

Truths! Plus the Alucab on a 6ft bed isn't actually 6ft inside. There's an adapter to make the same camper work for both the 5ft and 6ft which robs space for the larger bed size.

Follow up for anyone re suspension upgrades and bottoming.

Fully loaded for biking/camping for two in Moab.
Upgraded springs: Dobinsons Tacoma Leaf Springs Pair for Toyota Tacoma 2005 to 2020 (500-800LBS)
Bilstein 5100 extended versions rear. X1 (adds ~340#) . Full bed of gear.
    Upgraded front susp.
Normal gravel/ dirt driving is great.

For example: that bump crossing the train tracks on Rte 313 at Moab Giants heading to Horsethief bottoms out the suspension.
Simulated sound effect: "bang" (deep tone)

    Is this to be expected?

Options: slow right down, add another leaf (upgrade), live with it (not damaging?), sumo stops?

edit1 - if needed, this would seem to be the best solution for my existing setup -

wheelers super bumps for the rear. have been running them for years. but.. you also may need more spring rate. possibly add another AAL or get them re-arched.

I would suggest you start by weighing it fully loaded. Then you at least have an idea of where you are and what to do about it.

Weigh the truck loaded down full of fuel. Add the weight of passengers.
Then determine if your springs are up to par. Can they be adjusted to handle it.
If not Alcan is pretty dang good at making custom springs.

I guess consensus is bottoming isn't normal on those tracks.
Time to head to the dump scales at Moab weight then.
May as well drop off some household bits for a tenner.

Would anyone happen to know the distance from the top of the windshield (at the weatherstripping) to the camper overhang on a double cab long bed? If not, would someone be so kind as to measure it for me? Contemplating racks for my SP which I should be picking up in the next couple months. Thank you and appreciate all the info in this thread as i get ready for my own!

Oh that's damaging alright... Initial damage will be that the bump stop on the frame will cave in. Harder bottoming out will bend your frame.

    At minimum, add another leaf.

I have the Dobinsons 112 leaf pack and 2nd gen Baja suspension all around with a 1/4" spacer up front and the truck is level when loaded and does not bottom out any more. My other branded camper weighs very similar to the X-1 and I have a fridge, gear, bikes, water, bike rack, etc... OEM bumpers and no sliders.

Mark77, that is a lot more than 12-14 weeks out. I now am 11 weeks out from my supposed install date, but I haven’t heard a word, nor have they responded to an email I sent last week. A bit of a concern. I may try calling the end of this week if I don’t hear from them.

Should add that I have ride rite bags installed, running at min 10psi, No bump stops.
They were helpful prior to the X1 with camping gear and a moto on the hitch rack but not enough with the X1 and gear.
The bags provided lift but not any give. The moto will push that further to the limit.

    So there it is... add-a-leaf.
Sent an email to Mike at ExitOffRoad re the AAL he offers.
Seems to be the best solution for my situation.

    Thanks all.

My camper was ready to be installed months ago. But my health kept me from going. And i chose that date at the end of June on purpose, i could have gone sooner.

I had my X1 installed last week. Super solid and well engineered camper.

Here are a couple pics from the first few nights:

Thx @RangeRick & @frenchee for entertaining my first gen questions.

Next up is a backup cam. Anyone mount one on the top rail?
