Same here . Almost got killed pulling a woman and baby from overturned Bronco years ago . I-84 about 10 miles east of Pennsylvania border . 25 year class A driver .

i never understand, those things not only don’t look good, it also aren’t functional, and actually hinder crash ratings as demonstrated. Idiots still have them all the time though giving some false sense of security maybe or possibly to look “cool”

 

ya they are call bush guards for a reason, they stop bushes not cars.

 

Did you watch the video? The guy was staying out of the way while trucks and cars continued to smash into the rest of them. Going out then would have been suicide. Once he thought it was calming down he stopped recording so he could go in to help.

Yes, I've been it that situation over a dozen times over the years across the country and each time myself and others helped people get out of their vehicles right away. The longer a pile up last the more likely the people in cars/suv's will be crushed and die (not necessarily right away, lots of suffering, more injuries and more chances of being trapped in the vehicle/s only to be found dead or mangled well after the clean up is being down). I'll risk my life every time to save another. Luckily between someone higher up watching over me and being smart about how I rescued people/ pets/ horses and livestock I'm still here to live another day for my family.

 

Just saw this on the news. 3 fatalities. Another sad story.

 

ouch, i saw the guy out there in the one section of video, very scary. I saw something similar to that out by Cabela's in Hamburg on my way home a few years ago, pileup for several miles.

 

That video is scary, the whole time he was talking you could hear the crashes in the background, then that fire was near that tanker truck. Terrible.

Good morning. Seeing that pile up is like watching a bad dream. I have never been in or around anything like that. That being said it was another discussion in the house of what to do in that situation.
