No, she was awesome. You have to expect others on the trails and everyone we have met there are very friendly. We went for lunch and a whole local family with kids were coming out from eating, jumping on their ATV's, heading down the street to hit the trails again.

I feel like it's always hit or miss. Sometimes you have families like that who are into it and get it and other times you have eco-nazi's ready to pull a gun on you.

And you second guess even sharing this on forums etc... I am in no way a tree hugger but we also don't toss garbage and be disrespectful to others, don't hammer down trails not caring about others that may be using the trails also. Hear things about why the pine barrens are having issues, sa few idiots can ruin it for everyone and when you have a spot like this, you hope out of control people don't make their way here. But knuckleheads are everywhere.

BTW, the stream crossing, someone whined about that and jumped to conclusions... it is actually on the map as part of the "woods road"...

And this was just one of many "woods roads", there are scenic overlooks, waterfalls and other spots. Thinking to hit the other spots and get them on video... and we also have Stag Hill, a good amount of trails to wheel there too!

West Milford always liked like it had trails but I never knew anyone who knew the spots. Stag is fun but gets way too much attention from fb groups and New Yorkers.

Is that frenchies? Haven’t been there in yearssss.

aoaa is fun but so much fluff between the good stuff. Plus it still has so many tight tree sections, I almost always get body damage there. Rausch is for sure the most fun for challenging rocks without stupid trees.

the new truck you are building will be tons of fun there. I have a hard time wheeling aoaa/rausch anymore. Beating on the rig to beat on the rig in all the usual places just doesn’t feel fun anymore unless it’s exploring something new.

I'm in Flanders, you would go Green Pond to RT23? We went to Echo Lake.

2012 I used to go with the NJ/NY Metro Jeepers to Stag Hill when I had a JK.

We didn't hit all of the trails by Eco Lake, one trail looked like it was going towards a swamp, probably hit that next time, if you guys want to check it out with us, I will find out when the others want to go.

I always took my RZR to aoaa for that reason. Plus I only have an ifs truck now and not trying to do trail repair to get home. Honestly, that is the only reason im building the truck I am. I am sick of fixing shit all the time. My plan is to get this one done kinda nice and put an lm7 in it this winter. In the meantime ive been looking for a 1980 cab. Gonna build a 2x4 frame for it and 3 link/4link it. With the ls and tons in the tacoma I can tow the truggy around no problem.

Meh I think you are underrating these IFS trucks but I get you. It's nice to have something you can really beat on and not worry as much about being perfectly lined up to lock the front or needing to be soft on the gas pedal. FWIW I have only broken a cv once, a stub shaft once, and spiders before I got the front locker. That's with 35's double locked and the breakages only happened on reds.

I’ve always found knowing how to use your equipment is more important than having lots of fancy equipment. All my IFS related failures have been a result of doing dumb shit I shouldn’t have.

And when you beef up one part, another becomes the weak link! But it all depends on how hard you are going to push it/beat it. Buggies look like the way to go for hardcore rocks anyway, all it takes is $$$$

I just put rebuilt OEM CV's in the 91, have a Grizzly in the rear and TrueTrac up front, Yukon 5.29s with 37's. See how it goes. Not expecting to go rock crawling but who knows, may go SAS down the road

My sons Tacoma has 35's, Yukon 5.29's and a Detroit locker in the rear

Yuppppp. Cliffhanger was easily my hardest trail to date when it comes to overall obstacle after obstacle that needed the right line and a hell of a lot of front locker use. My eyes are set on Pritchett the next time I go back.

It's hard comparing West Coast to East Coast and how people view "trail difficulty/what equipment can do". West Coast has legit trails that the only way through it is via the obstacle. The East Coast has offroad parks where you can do some gnarly stuff but you are still only driving around in circles. I am not sure any offroad park trail has given me the feeling of accomplishment a west coast trail has. I have had trips on the east coast where surviving the entire trip felt like an accomplishment, but not a trail/obstacle.

    Like these are cool "sections"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQTzBiTIH-E
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skKBab2vSlc

But I wouldn't say oh I ran "X trail" at Rausch or AOAA and it felt like it was a notable achievement for myself personally. Maybe back in the day I felt it was when I was getting my roots, but not anymore.

That said there are some cool trails on the East Coast outside of offroad parks in VA/NH/VT but they are more suited for the multi day adventures I mentioned previously.

I honestly don't even know where I was getting at with all this, just ramblings of a burnt out wheeler.

I started really wheeling while in LA and TX, where it’s all parks. I feel the same way you do that you don’t get the sense of accomplishment completing a trail when you know you can just drag yourself up to the bypass. But even out west there are often multiple ways to get to the same place.

I think parks allow you to try harder stuff because you can limp back to the entrance for repairs. Out in the wilderness you need to be a bit more cautious cause there are much fewer options for help if things go sideways.
