Our UPS guy came in yesterday with a beard. I ask him what is up with that? He said the young guys raised enough stink UPS changed their policy.

I say this cause I know you’re retired from UPS :D

Yeah, we were always required to be clean shaven . Some guys faces were really irritated from shaving. Finally a Muslim guy said it was against his religion to shave and they gave in. Now everyone has a beard .

I know fire departments are against beards, which is understandable with the face mask for air packs. Other than that, who cares what you have on your face :D

For the record, back in the volunteer days we had firemen with beards and had no problems. :anonymous:

Also had a no tattoo policy. Any tattoos had to be covered up.

Our trades guys have to do annual fit tests for respirators and the guys with facial hair always have to crank the mask on extra tight to pass.

I changed thousands of lamps/ballasts through the years, some in really awful places.
In factories often the lights go in then the machines, everything is good until the light quits working.

At my way back job they must have bought some budget fixtures when doing an expansion, after about 4 years the ballasts started dying, dozens per week -- glad to be done with that, I can't do the ladders anymore.

We've finally gotten away from those these days thank goodness! Everything's been converted to direct wire LED bulbs that seem to last forever. They'd last longer if they didn't smack the fixture with heavy and oversized boxes, but hey what can ya do

Me? All the f***ing time! I've been known to turn a new bolt because I had stock in the lathe and it's a ten minute drive to the hardware store....

Punishment was having to fix it
