Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

At my first job I had put decals on a brand new semi and when I was backing it out of the garage I caught the front chrome bumper on a bollard. Bent the crap out of that thing.

Owner wasn't happy. Boss really wasn't happy but he was a cheap SOB.

 

I worked at a landscape nursery in high school for 2 years. My next to last day they had bought a newer S10 truck for us to drive around the nursery. I was backing up to pick up a guy as we were closing greenhouses and the passenger door was open, I hung a trailer and curled it around to the fender, then quit

It wasn't on purpose and I felt terrible.

 

I worked at a grocery in Kentucky at 16, bagging groceries. Not a terrible first real job but I woke up one night sat straight up in bed I had been stuffing my pillow into my pillowcase over and over. That was when I knew I was getting out of that.

 

Good thing you weren’t in the butcher department

 

On the subject of jobs, apparently I get to sit at the job fair this Thursday and beg students to come work for us over the summer.

Sounds like a paid day of bird watching , could be worse.

 

I'd ask if you're a good painter but at this point I don't think we care. If you're breathing, you're hired.

 

And yet people still cant get hired

 

One of our customers works for a major tobacco company in maintenance, he said a few years ago they had a job fair and had over 7,000 people show up. They had one a few months ago and had right at 400 show up.

 

Going to have to be sneaky. The booth next to me will be the Department of Homeland Security.

 

Donuts should get you some leverage

 

There's a Jimmy Johns sub shop that hasn't been open for months because there's no one to work. It's crazy.

 

We got paged out to a car accident a few years ago and by the time I got to the station the Deputies had arrived on scene and advised no injuries.

So I pull I to the station and the ambulance was pulled out halfway and the passenger door open. I told the driver we were canceled and then pulled around the building to park.

The driver backed I'm with the passenger door open and crunched the shit out of it..so he pulls forward and jumps out to look at what he had just done... leaving the truck in neutral for some reason and the driver's door open..so the ambulance rolls back into the station and now crunches the driver's door!

Luckily the ambulance and one of the brush trucks were a year apart and the doors were taken off the brush truck to get the ambulance back in service while new doors were obtained.

 

Oops!

 

Like there will be any left...

 

A Jersey Mike’s opened near us recently, my wife got supper there a couple weeks ago. My gootness is was expensive.

Our first time ever eating there, the food was good.

 

I thought about that after I sent it

 

When I took the bush hog and scoop pan to paint last week I ask him to do the pan in blue or red, whatever he had, don’t care. He sent me a blue sample this morning. I said don’t buy any paint, he said you don’t halfway do projects for me.

I can assure you as a former fed, the HR dept of most govt agencies is where we position all the crack investigators. Stay on your toes!
